Old Bethpage Village Restoration

This restoration is a remake of a Long Island town from the 1800's. This is supported by the employees dressed in the proper attire for the times.. There are many demonstrations and hands on exhibits to try out in the village. If you just want to look around, you can walk around and marvel at the work put into restoring the village. You can look at some animals, visit various houses and shops, and even see what it was like to go to school. After visiting the village and it's inhabitants, you won't take modern technology for granted! more

Old Bethpage village is a remarkable recreation of Long Island's past. With many old shops and homes from the 1800's, you really feel as though you've been shot back in time. The employees there are spot on in their characters, offering very insightful information about the times. Definitely try the root beer, mmm! Great demonstrations such as basket weaving and horseshoe making. Lots of fun for everyone! more

Old Bethpage Village Restoration is a treasure to Nassau County, Long Island, and New York. It is a large grounds composed of many acres of land where one can experience what it was like to live during the time of the Civil War. There are shops from that time such as a general store and locksmith, a farm where you can visit the real animals, a school where you can take up a tablet and take a lesson from a strict schoolteacher, a creepy real graveyard, and many houses and barns on the property to explore. Occasionally they will hold a very special event such as an old fashioned ball game and a great Civil War skirmish in which there are a few hundred uniformed participants. There are many activities for children there as well and plenty of old time food and trinkets to go around. Really a great place. more
