Best Sushi Ever! 1/17/2011

I am from Texas but lived in Hermosa for 3 years. When my sister and I came across Oki Doki it was like heaven! We ate there 2-3 times a week. I have now moved back to Texas, but seriously come back to Cali just to eat at Oki Doki! See you soon! more

Best Sushi in the South Bay 8/31/2010

This is by far some of the best overall Sushi in Socal. There are some places that may do 1 or 2 things better, but I haven't found a place that beats them in every category. They have a lot of variety in specialty rolls. Never had a bad experience, been going there for 5 years. more

lots of sweet sauce 7/1/2010

I seem to have had a similar experience as Frank Poncherella....something and I could not pin down what, gave me bad diarrhea on the way home. I have never driven so fast back to my pad : ( I didnt order uni but had a collection of their suggested fancy rolls like TNT and Superman, some went down ok with sake, but indeed the fish was so so, I guess thats where all the sauce comes in... but I heard from some friends who haven't had fresh simple sushi that this place was the bomb. I ended up with a bad case of poopy pants. I recommend Sakura in culver city or Hide...fresh fish and straight up Japanese style sushi. Pros: Friendly folks as staff Cons: fish not so fresh and soaked with sweet sauce more

Don't order the Uni 12/3/2009

Nice staff who happen to be Korean. Needless to say they don't serve Korean BBQ or Galbi. They have many creative rolls. Some sushi was not as fresh as I like it compared to hard core and decently priced places like Hide in West LA. Ordered the uni (sea urchin). It was NOT fresh -uni needs to be served very fresh and thrown away if not served after one day. It tasted wrong but it was too late, I ate enough to get a violent bout of diarrhea and vomiting the same evening. Painful experience- Haven't been back since.recent Update my boy has been going there for years until he got massive diahrrea and had to call in sick because he couldn't control his bowels in his police car. I doubt disco Louie will be back. Pros: nice staff, lots of rolls Cons: un fresh fish more

BEST Sushi Rolls In LA 11/22/2009

Just got into sushi a few years ago, and have allowed my 'finicky' tastebuds to refuse Nori (seaweed). Therefore I only eat sushi rolls with soypaper. Having that said, not only does Oki Doki provide soy paper in their rolls, but they've got so many combinations of rolls I haven't made it through their entire list yet! The staff is extremely friendly, they always greet you on your way in and acknowledge your leaving with ""thank you very much."" When they're not busy they offer tables and the sushi bar their complimentary baked albacore appetizer which, i'm not going to lie, is OUT OF THIS WORLD. My faves: The In 'n Out roll and the T.N.T. Roll (not to be confused with the Dynamite roll, as they have that one too!) Check out the specials on the board by the sushi bar, some of their signature rolls that aren't on the menu are quite tasty--and ENORMOUS. Go For The Superman Roll if you've got a hearty appetite! Can't say enough great things about this place: Best sushi in the South Bay, Best VALUE in Los Angeles, and they're very creative with the varieties of rolls, bento box combos, salads and appetizers. Pros: Super Friendly Staff, Clean, Huge Selection of Rolls Cons: Luke Warm Edamame, Parking Can Be Troublesome more

Best Sushi in Town 7/17/2008

Yes, it looks like a hole in the wall but the food is amazing EVERY TIME. The rolls are huge and relatively inexpensive. Sometimes they bring around complimentary baked albacore tuna, which is also delicious. I crave specific rolls from Oki and get disappointed when other Japanese restaurants don't carry them! Pros: clean, good quality, good price, good value Cons: parking can be difficult more

Best sushi in the South Bay 4/21/2008

I love this place! Its has the feel of a neighborhood pizza joint, but with sushi. The decor may leave something to be desired, but the great attitudes of the chefs and wait staff make up for it, not to mention the occasional early 90s rap bumping through the sound system. As for the sushi, I think its the best I've had in the South Bay... impressive considering its also the cheapest. I don't think you can do better with $13 anywhere in all of LA than on the Sunset Combo. Highly recommend this place. Pros: Great food, Greater price Cons: Parking annoying, can get crowded on weekends more

Totally Rad 3/2/2008

Definitely dont judge this place by its location (small strip mall) or name. It is awesome. Best b*ng for your buck sushi you will find in west LA, if not the world. If Oki Doki was a girl, i would marry it and love it for the rest of my life, and it would love me back. FYI: In & Out roll knows how to party. Service isnt the best when crowded because they only have a couple waitresses, but who cares. Pros: Awesome neighborhood sushi joint, cheap, delicious, great Cons: Small and can get really crowded on peak nights more

Best tasting rolls so far in Hermosa/Manhattan Beach area. 8/9/2007

So.This is our first time writing a review... we always read them, so its time to write one. Pros: Delicous food.Clean restaurant. friendly chef. Cons: small parking lot. location is easy to miss. more

Great Rolls! 5/2/2007

We love this place. You have to get the Aloha Roll when you visit. it is the best on the menu. Always good service, very accommodating and when you order Sashimi, you get a little side car of additional chunks of the same fish...nice touch. Plus, the prices are very reasonable. We would also recommend the Sashimi salad...very tasty. Cons: Parking is sometimes difficult. more

Great! Great Sushi Rolls! 10/5/2006

It's a small little shop hidden in the corner of this shopping complex. When I walked in, I didn't think much of it. But it turned out pretty fabulous! Our server was ""super kawai"" (meaning super cute) and she was eager to give us suggestions about what rolls to order. I have never seen so many different types of sushi rolls before! Highly creative. I dont recommend their staple ""Oki Doki Roll"" though. It was mushy, flimsy and bland. The Spicy tuna salad was excellent. The grilled Hamachi was superb. The Dynamite roll was fantastic. Tempura roll was yummy. We are defintely going there again! Two thumbs up! Pros: The best grilled Yellowtail collar in the South Bay Cons: Needs to update their menu to a low carb alternative like Sushi of Naples more

Great Casual Sushi 7/8/2006

Good Vibe, Good Chefs, Good Fish, Great Value. Koi, it's not, but it's not trying to be. Just a great neighborhood Sushi restaurant. The positive word is out, so be smart about when you're arriving and how quickly you expect to be seated on busy nights. more

Hermosa's hidden jewel 6/30/2006

Best sushi around!! Great rolls, large portions, lots to choose from. Affordable. Never judge a book by it's cover; try it out. Highly recommended. Pros: large portions, great presentaion, warm atmosphere Cons: location, parking more

I heart Oki Doki 5/12/2005
