Treats everyone like they are an athlete 11/23/2011

I have had multiple experiences with this place. When the place was called Physiotherapy it was excellent. When the place changed hands it totally changed. The place is now owned by the physicians at the Orthopedic Center of Excellance. The physcians are team doctors for a number of aports teams in columbus. Therefore, when you have PT/OT your are expected to do the same exercises as the athletes. They don't consider your age or your level of activity prior to your injury. The therapist tell you to stop exercising when you stop having pain. The problem, when you tell them you are in pain they make you keep going. Sometimes the timer would go off, telling the therapist I was finished a treatment, and I would sit there and nobody would help me. I would have to take my arm out of the heat machine or take the electrodes off my arm. I would then leave and nobody realized I had left. I know of multiple people who have received treatment here and have been very dissatisfied. Finally, the doctors, at the Orthopedic Center of Excellance, tell you that you can only go to PT/OT at the Ohio Therapy Institute. This is not true. It is against the laws. You have a choice. They own the Ohio Therapy Institute. This is what is driving all the small PT places out of business. I could go on but I tink I have said enough. more

Yes, they are busy, but EVERYONE was professional and caring 11/9/2011

I could not disagree more with the other review. Yes, they are very busy. And I did not see anyone being pulled in so many directions, as much as I saw teamwork. In the area, in which I was treated, the therapists helped each other. They were all very professional and caring. I would use them again anytime, I needed physical therapy, after a surgery. I never once felt because they were busy, that I did not get superb care. Anyone who has to resort to name calling, as was done in the other review, really just destroys his credibility. I was helped by several therapists over many months, and couldn't be more pleased with the results of their hard work, and skill. more

Unprofessional 9/21/2010

I’ve lived a good, hard, life and as a result have been to a number of physical therapists and physical therapy clinics. My experience at the Ohio Therapy Institute was one of the worst I’ve had. I’ve actually never had a bad experience until I went there. Truly my personal physical therapist was good, but the overall experience was poor. The clinic is a zoo and the individual therapists are overworked like you can’t believe. The therapist with whom I worked was actually excellent but was pulled in so many directions I felt I did not get quality care. Overall the staff is friendly but on a number of occasions I heard some of them speaking “privately” about other patients in a derogatory way. My biggest complaint would be with the manager. I had very limited dealings with him but in those instances he was a pompous, arrogant, ass. I saw how things were run in this clinic and told him I was leaving and was taken back by the arrogance he displayed in our interaction. I tried to stick it out for a while because I felt I would get good care at the doctors office where I had my surgery but after our discussions I decided to take my business elsewhere. I don’t hold any grudge towards my personal therapist as I felt I was treated well but the whole atmosphere at this clinic was really negative and was a challenge to deal with in my recovery. I feel the problem is with the management as the individual therapists are overworked but doing the best they can. There are a number of other clinics around town that I feel do a much better job at giving focused, individualized care and I would recommend them over the Ohio Therapy Institute. more
