Great FOOD 3/16/2011

I love this place. The sushi is fresh and well made. I love that it is low key and great place to take a date. more

I love this place 1/25/2010

My girlfriend and I went the first time by chance and we've been going back ever since.\r \r I can't express how much I love this restaurant. The food is outstanding, the service is top notch and the environment is so friendly and homely it's easy to accidentally spend hours eating, talking and just enjoying the view. Every time we go, we're so pleased with the food and the service that we end up leaving a very large tip, and if you're a regular it doesn't go unnoticed.\r \r Also, the menu is very dynamic and you cannot go wrong. Order anything off the menu, even if you don't know what it is, you will be delightfully surprised every time. I highly recommend the heaven maki, sun spicy and the fried chicken teriyaki.\r \r -Steve\r P.S. Try the iced tea, it's fantastic. Pros: Everything more

You have to try this place! 9/30/2008

Who would have expected that a sushi restaurant this great would be in an HEB shopping center?\r \r The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff is so friendly...I have only been there a few times but they make me feel like a regular. They greet every customer that enters and thanks everyone when they leave. \r \r The sashimi and sushi rolls are top notch, and the Odaku udon is a personal favorite. I've also had the chicken yakitori and it was super yummy. \r \r I would highly recommend this place, give it a try! Pros: The food, service, atmosphere and value! more

From Seattle (Read: Land of sushi) and sushi was really quite good... 8/6/2008

Being from Seattle, I am used to go out to various fantastic fresh-fish sushi places multiple times a week. Odaku is the best sushi place I've found in Austin so far. And the wait staff is so sweet and friendly - one time, the very nice wait-lady even brought our party (of six) out free cake that the owner had made himself/herself. All the food I've had there has been great - and we've been 5 or so times now. Love it! Other friends from Austin and Seattle and other parts of the country all rave about the place, too... Good stuff!! Pros: great sushi, caring and attentive wait-staff, not over-busy Cons: ambience isn't really that romantic - unless you sit at the back sunken seating! more

One of the best sushi that I ever ate 5/7/2008

I'm usually a very picky eater and always complains about food that I ate (I know its not a good attitude), but why would I want to pay for somthing that I can make it better on cheaper cost?Today I got a pleasant surprise when I try their Odaku sushi (one of the chef specialty sushi roll). I love the overral texture, taste and appearance of the sushi. It taste so good that it feels like it just melt inside my mouth. I dont usually like raw fish, but for some reason it really compliment each other very well with the unagi and avocado. The staff overthere are very friendly and nice. It takes a lilttle bit longer than I expected before I get my sushi, but it was worthied every seconds of it. I highly recommend to try the odaku sushi if you never try it before. Pros: Good sushi more

Terrible Sushi 2/29/2008

My husband and I went there one time during their happy hour and we were served cold sushi (it must be some left over for lunch). It tasted horrible and funky. Plus their tempura was way too breaded. Never went back there again. Pros: service was fast Cons: sushi doesn't taste very good more

We love this place 10/16/2007

My fiance and I adore this place. The miso soup is terrific, and the tuna sashimi practically melts in your mouth. Despite the location, this little shop has been around for years! I highly recommend this place to any sushi lover. more

Great Service, not the best Sushi 9/13/2007

Went on a weekday afternoon for a late lunch and the service was great. All I was in the mood for was the sushi and it was just okay. I'm a huge sushi fan and am very picky with how it tastes so I doubt I will go back here again. If you're not so picky with how sushi tastes then this is a good place to try out. more

ignore the strip mall 11/18/2006

this place is a gem. once you get over the fact that it's in a strip mall, you can really enjoy it. i came here on valentine's three years ago and they remembered us when we went back months later. they even had a picture of us from valentine's! on to the food- amazing! just go with a chef's special and trust them. the tempura is amazing, probably some of the best miso and seaweed salad. a full meal for two will run you $50-75, but if its valentine's and you want to go somewher cozy and romantic that isn't full of other couples, come here. i can't wait to go back! Pros: service, fresh sushi Cons: in a strip mall more

Friendly service, funky fish 9/1/2006

I have tried several sushi resturants around Austin, and this was by far the worst so far. The waitstaff was friendly and the service was prompt. However the sushi was no good. My husband and I ordered the mackerel and it tasted like canned fish, rubbery and somewhat dry with a fishy after taste. The hamachi roll had more green onion than fish. Overall it was overpriced and a poor experience. Pros: service and appetizers (yakitori) Cons: sushi more

WOW 5/21/2006

Now I havent been able to get to a lot of sushi places in Austin yet but wow this has to be the best sushi I have had outside of Los Angeles. Good portion, prices, and quality. If you have a chance to get there for lunch perfect. Got there about 1:35 and got sat right away. 20.90 for 2 people on there lunch special. Sushi combo came with 1 eel, 1 salmon, 2 tuna, 1 halibut, 2 tuna rolls, miso and salad. They also are willing to let you substitute if you dont like one of the items. I traded the eel for an extra salmon. Will be there at least once a week from now on.... more

Decent sushi, but not romantic. 2/28/2006

The restaurant is in a strip mall. Maybe its just me but a place cant be romantic if its in a strip mall. I must say, however, it is quite nice inside. The sushi is decent, service is very good. more

Average 5/25/2005

The Katsu was great, but the rolls were emmm...... not so good had better at better price. Pros: Good katsu, Nice people Cons: not so good rolls, too much rice in Sush more

Great Food!! 4/24/2005

Friendly, Korean family owned restaurant. Were quiet suprised to find the exceptional quality of sushi and service. The employees are friendly and they remembered us the next time we visited. Would definately recommend it to my friends if I didn't mind seeing them take over my spot =D. hehe Pros: Spider Roll, Unagi, Green Tea ice cream more

Average 1/17/2005

The sushi is average, even for Austin. The ""Crazy"" roll is pretty good. more

Best Tuna Nigiri 5/26/2004

Even though the waitress was slow and the prices are a tad higher than Sushi Sake, their Tuna Nigiri was probably the freshest I've ever tasted. Pros: tuna nigiri, california roll more

Great Sushi in NW Austin 2/16/2004

I'm from San Francisco, and I miss good sushi. Odaku really is up to snuff. Some of the best sushi I've had in Texas. The unagi was outstanding! And at about $30/person, that's more than on par. A must-go if you live in NW Austin!!! Pros: quality, price, ambience more
