Rob from Octagon Cleaning and Restoration came in when the place was a mess. It had mold and it was wet. He was really quiet and I thought, "Oh God, he's judging me." But he wasn't. He was discussing what to do. He was hearing me even though he was concentrating on other things. I found him to be very, very trustworthy. His word is his word.
I thought I would be traumatized by the whole process. I let the guys know that I was afraid. Tyler and Lynn did everything they could listen to what I needed to salvage and, as we were going through, what I needed to save. My mother is the one who owns the house. She inherited it from her aunt, who was quite old. They wrapped dishes, cups, and saucers that are antiques. The teacups and stuff were fairly old.
They were helpful and they were kind. Those two showed caring. One time the three of us were all working together on various projects. They had picked me up a mask and gloves and everything and honestly we were like a bond. We were a team of workers. Some new members came in and I kind of leaned my head on Tyler's shoulder and said, "I want Lynn back." From then on it was Lynn and Tyler.
They were wonderful. They were awesome and the other workers were awesome too. I can't say enough. They were beyond my expectations. They were here to do a demolition and they did it without looking like they were tearing a part a home. They told Rob that I was one awesome person to work for and that they were bummed the job was over. I didn't really know that. They had told me, but I thought that was just them saying that.
I told Rob that they needed bonuses and I hope they got them. I had called to let him know how important those two men are to me still. Our humor got us through it. Tyler said he liked my humor the best and that he was going to learn more of it. I miss them so much. I don't miss the machines and I don't miss being down there in the mess, but I miss them.
I didn't go down there when they were really involved in the demolition, but they always knocked on the front door and stuck a head in to let me know they were here. They always gave me the day's outline so that I could say to them, "Well, I have an appointment at 1. Can somebody be here?" since the house was open. I hated to see them pack up and go.
They never left without letting me know they were leaving. They always told me what they got done that day and what they had planned for the next day. Those two represent themselves as gentleman. They are motivated to help and they helped. They represent a good foundation as well. I hope to see Octagon in every yellow pages listing throughout Maine. If Rob would give me some business cards, I would put them out and around. I would put one in every Christmas card.
