I brought my parents here for their last night in town, so it was my spouse, myself, our 4 year old, and my 55ish mom and dad. We wanted something casual so that we could sit outside by the beach, and then go walking on the sand after dinner. The food was ok but very overpriced. It wasn't a casual restaurant, even though we didn't feel underdressed. My son had a kid's meal that consisted of half a cup of pasta with some red sauce on it for six bucks... no vegetables or anything. We all just had water to drink so the cost of the food was exclusively the meals and the bill was just under 150 dollars. I would have rather come somewhere like this on a date night, not a random Tuesday evening. My spouse ordered the filet mignon and it was not at all a proper cut of beef. There was way too much fat to be a filet, and for what you were paying, it should have been better for sure. My salad was 18 dollars by the time I added some grilled chicken. For a beachfront place, the seafood was not Florida style either. Everything seemed to have a heavy sauce on it. I expected to see a grouper selection too and there was none. I'd like to have seen more Floridian style food (rock lobster, stone crab, citrus sauces, lime cilantro rice, mussels, etc) and a more "by the beach" feel. The restaurant right next door had much more of that feel, plus live music. I'd go there next time. more

I used to be a frequent here. They always have great entertainment and the view can not be beat. The drinks are very good but the food however is overpriced and not so hot. A great place to come for drinks but would skip out on the food. more

My girlfriends and I went to Oceans234 for dinner on Saturday night and much to our surprise we walked into an awesome White Party! Even though we were not wearing white, our server quickly made us feel welcome and encouraged us to stay and enjoy the party! We had great food, listened to great salsa music and got up and danced with the salsa dancers. What a fun night on the beach! more

Any time you go to a restaurant on the water, you're paying for the view.\r \r The food's not bad, but nothing special.\r I've learned never to expect much from a restaurant with a great view. more

I recently attended a Bridal Shower at Oceans 234. It was a beautiful Sunday morning affair. This was my first time there for the Champagne Brunch. The food was delicious! The servers were very attentive to our party and you just couldn't beat the atmosphere. more

The Boss and I headed out to the beach for the day . . . not H-Wood or FLL today, wanted to hit Deerfield. After a couple of hours in the sun, we walked up to the Pier and happened into Oceans 234. Beautiful view and if you look over the seagrapes you can see the volleyball players.\r \r Service was great (thanks Daniel). Boss had Veggie Wrap and I went with the Blackened Dolphin sandwich. Both were presented well with perfectly seasoned fries (regular fries for me and sweet potato fries for the boss).\r \r Will be back again for dinner.\r \r Feb 4, 2011 Visit - Service still great (Thanks Andrew) - Another great lunch. more

I'm honestly not crazy for this place nor do I love it. Ordered the calamari for an app to munch on and much to our dismay, they do some sort of weird sauce drizzle with red pepper chunks on top and the batter was way too sugary that it was fried in, so we sent it back and asked for an order of basic calamari. It came out and tasted better however it didn't have any tentacles in it which was disappointing, being that its a classier restaurant on the beach. When there are tentacles present, normally that signifies that the calamari is fresh, not frozen. Went for dinner with my boyfriend one night and asked for the swordfish special plain and grilled and the order came out wrong with some kind of sickly sweet sauce drizzle and it was way undercooked but I still ate it anyway and didn't complain. The fruit salsa was a little overpowering and the onions in the vegetable medley were way too strong. I did go back to try their lunch this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The Cobb Salad was to die for, yummy moist chunks of perfectly grilled chicken with crisp bacon, cheese, avocado and a yummy creamy basil ranch dressing. Even my picky junk loving boyfriend wanted a taste and thought it was yummy. Definitely a good place for a nice view and yummy lunch. more

It is a solid seafood restaurant. I don't understand why they would build 2 seafood places right next to each other, to me that makes no sense at all. Oceans tries to be more upscale then JB's but falls short. In my opinion they are the same restaurant, and I always get the two confused. As far as the food is concerned, it is very good and have a solid variety of seafood. It is a nice place for special occasions or if you want to party on a Saturday night on the beach. more

You are pratically on the beach at this restaurant, so go casual and enjoy. The menu seemed very eclectic with Asian and Spanish and Italian offerings. I got some kind of shrimp tempura sushi for an appetizer, which was very good (not sure if you can actually consider tempura as sushi??) and got the Honey Soy Glazed Salmon for dinner, that also was very tasty. Others also enjoyed their seafood. Martini's were in short glasses but they were strong......personally I like them strong but in a bigger glass. Service was ok but a little choppy. more

Always been a favorite until last visit. Spinach was salty to the point of bitter, wait staff was not attentive and forgot things and my fish was so sweet that it taste like a block of molasses. What happened to the oceans 234 I remember from a year ago? more
