I was on a business trip in Stamford last week and came across this priceless gem randomly. I got there right when it opened for the evening, so I had the whole place to myself. But I don't think it would have made much difference in the service or the food if the place had been packed. It was a very on-top-of-their-game crew on duty.
As a native Marylander, I have eaten more than my fair share of soft shelled crabs. These were easily the best I have ever had, and they served over the most perfect mushroom and leek concoction.
Prior to that course I consumed a whole lobster, warm, in a slightly sweet sage butter sauce, on top of frisee. Stupidly magnificent. I could not eat it slow enough. I followed all that up, unnecessarily, with a molten chocolate cake that was equally indulgent as the rest of the meal.
The chef is truly a genius. The staff and service were as remarkable as the food. I will eat here as many times as I can before I die.
