The view is way better than any other part of the Oasis. Food is mediocre, service is iffy, margaritas are fantastic - but go at sundown and you won't care about anything else but the beautiful view! more

Summer Time and View 7/6/2003

During the summer time The Oasis is still great! During the evening is the best though it can be HOT during the afternoon that is why evening is the best!But if you dont make reservations you may be stuck for a while, it can be crowded in the evening. It is still cool in the evening and the sunset and Lake Travis view is GREAT! June-September Pros: Food, Service, View Cons: Crowded, More Parking more

See the sunset, then eat somewhere else 2/19/2003

Hey, I know, when you have relatives from out of town, you HAVE to take them to the Oasis for the sunset. It IS a beautiful sight, and a fun place to kill time. But the food isn't very good (in fairness, it's not as horrible as it used to be- it HAS improved quite a bit), and it's far pricier than you'd expect. I suggest you have a margarita, watch the sunset, then have dinner someplace MUCH better. more

The Oasis has many excellent items to choose from on the menu and an outstanding view of Lake Travis. Definitely go during dinner to see the sunset because it is absolutely breathtaking. They also have live music to listen to while you wait which makes this restaurant a favorite of mine. more

FUN place to hangout!! 8/24/2002

The first time I went to the Oasis, I had a great time. I usually go on Sunday's since they play Salsa and Merengue. I think is a fun place to hangout with friends. And also a good place to admire the wonderfull views of Austin. Now the food......no comment. Pros: FUN, Good crowd, Beautiful view Cons: Expensive Food more

My visits to The Oasis were all worth the drive, and feel the next time I go it will be just as rewarding as the first. The service is clockwork, and the food is hypnotizing. I recommend the chicken sandwich. The only thing I wish I could change in this resturant would be to add sweet tea to the menu. The best time to visit is at sunset, but be prepair for the crowd that always returns. I suggest a lunch overlooking Lake Travis, the veiw is indescribable Pros: wonderful view, Great Food, Fun Atmostphere Cons: Steps, not close enough, wind more

This is the best place in and around Austin to dine outdoors, but I'd recommend not coming too hungry, as the prices don't match the food quality. Enjoy a drink and the view. more

Have a Brew with a View 7/26/2002

The Oasis has a wonderful view and fun staff that make visiting worth the trip. The food is excellent and the drinks are served with icy glasses. Whether sitting outside or in, the Oasis is the place for causal or romantic dining. Pros: great view, live music Cons: parking lot, gets crowded more

Great Atmosphere - Poor Food and Value 6/22/2002

Goup of us met on Friday evening for drinks and entertainment on Starlight Decks. The service and atmosphere was outstanding with manager checking periodically that everything was OK. The problem is the food (appetizers) with presentation and taste being minimal. Nachos had set too long and became ""soggy"" - same with the Quesadillas and seemed to just be thrown on the plate. Overall, the view and atmosphere must make up for the lack of food quality and cost. Our group of 11 spent in excess of $700 for a great view and minimal food. I would never come for a full meal at these prices. Pros: Atmosphere, Entertainment, Great Dance Area Cons: Overpriced, Poor Food Quality more

If you've never seen the sun set from the patio at Oasis it's a must do! However, make plans to just have drinks and skip the food. Too bad such a great location has such poor food. more
