I'd originally given this place 3 starts, but I'm taking one away. We'd been buying pizzas there with 2 toppings on half the pizza and other half only cheese, due to our kids only...

Head to the O! 3/21/2006

This is a great spot to head after your softball game in the summer. Unfortunately, everyone has this idea and it can get pretty crowded during the summer nights. The food is fine. The pizza is yummy. I like the chicken wings (spicy!), and the burgers are always good. The beer is reasonable. They've got TVs to watch the games and usually have a variety of things on (baseball, tennis, etc.). Fun spot I'd highly recommend. more

Noisy but surprisingly good pizza 12/31/2005

Extremely popular and seemingly always crowded, the Oasis is a great place to dine casually with a group if you're not in too much of a hurry. Bring a sweater if you're going to eat on the patio most times of the year; it can get chilly in a hurry and they don't always turn on the heaters. I've never "gotten" the idea behind big-screen outdoor TVs. Relax and have a good time with your friends. Parking can be iffy. more

a stanford legend 10/15/2005

the patio here is one of the best. the tv's need to be upgraded, but a good selection of beers, plenty of peanuts, and good pizza and burgers. more

Favorite local beer garden 8/15/2005

This is a true local establishment, it has been around for many years (at least 30 to my knowledge) and is one of the few places you can go enjoy a beer and a burger with your family. It always has a nice mix of regulars, families, students, and other local people. There is an outside patio where you can watch sports on two huge televisions. The food is great - you can get burgers, hot wings (my favorite), or pizza. They also have a great range of beers, and it's the only place around Palo Alto I've seen 24 oz bottles of coors or bud. Always a great place to go. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
The atmosphere will be familiar to those who spend any time in sports bars. Pennants and posters adorn the walls, with a heavy emphasis on the Stanford Cardinal. TVs are plentiful and a small grove of video games and pinball machines lines a side wall. The wooden tables and booths are all deeply etched with years upon years of drunken engraving. The clientele ranges from sorority types to suits.

    The Draw
Don't bring your dietary restrictions to the Oasis--that is, unless your diet forces you to eat nothing but French fries and red meat--because the O's delicious menu of all-American fare is heavy on the beef and grease of the pizza and burger variety. Perfectly accompanied by one of the several domestic and craft beers they have on tap.
