Great winery close to town 4/12/2006

Oakencroft is the closest winery to Charlottesville, and it's also quite good! As the name implies, the wines have an oak component, which gives it a very nice taste. The employees are also very, very nice and friendly, quite knowledgeable about the wine, and willing to answer any questions you might have. I highly recommend this place if you want to go somewhere close to town. more

So close to town! 4/11/2006

Oakencroft is the closest vineyard to Charlottesville. I love to go there and do tastings because the people working are so knowledgeable and nice! The wine is very good and though some of it is sold in the local grocery stores, there are many types that you can only get directly from the vineyard. My favorites of this season are the Seyval Blanc and the 2004 Encore. If you are interested in wine at all, I highly recommend Oakencroft! more
