Highly recomended for those who care for there critters 12/29/2008

Recieved great treatment. I am a person who wants the best care for my pets. This faciltiy is clean, the staff is caring and the doctors are very well educated and experienced. The practice is geared to those who want the best treatments availible but also realize that top care can at times be costly. Those looking for a ""Macy's"" level of care at ""Walmart"" prices may not be pleased. If you want the best I highly recomend. Pros: Great staff, well trained vets more

Stay Away! 11/28/2008

Okay, I will admit that the office is clean and the staff is nice but that's where the good news ends. For true pet lovers price should not be the main concern in picking a high quality vet, but you have to admit that it does factor in somewhere. Oak Animal Hospital has outrageous prices! Regardless of the cost, the main complaint is the fact that they have four vets treating the animals. On the surface that seems like a good business practice since they should always have room for your pet. The reality is that it is extremely frustrating never seeing the same vet twice. Back in August our dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis. The first vet (at Oak) said she was 95% sure it was NOT pancreatitis. Then the tests came back and a different vet (at Oak) said it definitely was an inflamed pancreas. Well our little girl was treated and recovered. About two weeks ago she had similar symptoms. We took her back and yet another vet (at Oak) looked at her chart, did a couple tests, and diagnosed her with pancreatitis. After a week of constant throwing up we had to go back in and was seen by, yes you guessed it, a different vet (at Oak). She wanted to continue treating the pancreatitis. I had finally had enough of being bounced around and paying through the nose for treatment that wasn't working, so I went to Vaca Valley Veterinary Hospital. There Dr. Jassar personally observed her for a couple of days and felt that the pancreatitis was a secondary condition. He performed surgery and found two blockages in her stomach and small intestine. He removed the blockages and basically saved her life. If I had continued at Oak Animal Hospital I firmly believe I would not have my precious puppy at home right now. Having four different vets trying to treat an animal simply doesn't work. I implore anyone trying to choose a veterinary hospital to stay away from Oak Animal Hospital. Give Vaca Valley Veterinary Hospital a try, Dr. Jassar might just save the life of your pet. Pros: Clean, newer building Cons: Price, consistency, treatment, just about everything more
