Remember the time that your parents talked about, when they went to the bar on the corner and everyone knew their name. Charlie knew what your dad drank and the waitress actually took the time to ask how you were when they weren't real busy. Well in Brandon, that place still exists. When you go into the bar/restaurant, they actually greet you and say what their name is. If you are at the bar, they ask what your name is so you can start a tab, and if the same person takes care of you on another day, they actually remember you. The food ranges from American, Irish, to South of the Border. The fish and chips are awesome and they even have the malt vinegar on the tables. During the off hours, when it is just a restaurant, I bring my 5 year old in to get her dinner. She gets treated like a little princess in there, and we sit in the booths in the back. She absolutely loves the chocolate cake and I endulge her occasionally. They have live music about 930 pm, and the place usually gets pretty loud and busy. The weekends are packed. they have a well stocked bar and I haven't heard of any drinks that the bartenders haven't been able to make. Please remember to have a designated driver, call someone to pick you up, or call a cab. To loose your license and have your car impounded for one night of fun isn't worth it.
I do want to say one thing. They do have big celebrations for the major holidays. Usually they have huge tents outside and lots of entertainment. There is a sign on Lumsden Ave announcing the event, and the shapes parking lot is filled to the rim. Oh yeah, St. Patricks day is huge there, if you haven't figured it out.
