""Convicted Felon with Drug charges!"" That is right at least one of the personal trainers there qualifies for this headline. Is that really who you want around You, Your wife or your family? more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/17/2012

I was a member 2010-2011 until we moved to Wake Forest. I thought the club was OK, but I expressed concern about the Falls of the Neuse club GM not answering my emails and the same club's not enforcing its written cell phone policy prohibiting cell phone use in the exercise areas. Despite having to make a longer drive from Wake Forest, I recently decided to give the club another try, especially in that they have a new GM. But after giving the $39/month some more thought and taking another look at Planet Fitness closer to my home, I canceled the following day per O2's three day no questions asked cancel policy. Long story short....the GM (Nick) canceled my membership, but he gave me the third degree right at the front desk and in front of other staff and clients regarding why I was canceling. I thought this was in poor taste, and just reinforces my decision to look elsewhere. Member / Buyer beware. more

Love O2 5/14/2012

Skeptical... 3/22/2012

I must admit I was quite skeptical about trying out this facility considering some of the awful reviews I found here. However 6 bad reviews vs 13 great ones kinda tipped the scales for me so I came in to judge for myself. \r \r Here’s what I found...beautiful interior, doesn't really look like much of a gym when you walk in. They have really taken the time to make it easier for people who are hesitant about starting a gym membership just from how they set up their location. You walk in and are greeted by lovely staff that then show you around and find out what you’re interested in doing and what you’re looking for. Its not you’re typical ""box"" shaped gym either equipment and weights are off to one side of the building while the group fitness classroom and locker/bathroom/showers/sauna are off to another side of the building. This spaces everyone out even during peak hours! I’m trying to get back into fitness so the classes were something I was really interested in but I have a weird schedule right now, however they had classes throughout the day which was perfect..even weekends. \r \r Now I'm not one to be fooled by all the glitz and glam, and I couldn't just forget about how they had a bad rating with the BBB and the 6 bad reviews, so I asked the membership consultant about it. He actually already knew the exact reviews I was talking about and took the time to fill in the details that some of the reviews left out. He also explained the club improvement fee (not plural) and how freezes/cancellations actually work. As far as the rating from the BBB goes, that only takes someone not responding back to the BBB from either the gym itself or their home office (I checked to see if this was true, it is!) \r \r All in all I wouldn't let some of these bad reviews lead you in the wrong direction about o2 fitness! If you in the market for a new gym I would highly recommend this facility.\r more

Just An Average Gym 11/9/2011

Not measurably different that any of the others in the area. Just a little more expensive. Equipment stays broken for extended periods of time with the old ""parts on order"" excuse sometimes for a month or more. My advice is look for the best deal and don't overlook smaller places like Snap Fitness down the street. more

This company has an F from the BBB. 8/13/2011

This company has an F rating from the BBB. O2 fitness charged my account for an extra month's membership beyond what my original contract with Seaboard Fitness covered. I signed a membership agreement with Seaboard Fitness on 8/18/2010. O2 fitness bought Seaboard fitness before the end of my contract. I stopped attending the gym, but honored the remainder of the original contract. When that contract expired, O2 continued to charge me for another month's membership. When I called to inquire, I was told that O2's policy is to continue charging on a month to month basis after the contract expires. I did not sign a contract with O2, I signed with Seaboard Fitness, whose policy was to ask the patron if the membership should be continued. O2 claims it cannot refund the extra month's charge, even though I did not authorize any additional payments from my account. more

Great trainers...poor management 5/31/2011

I've been a member of O2 for about 5 years. Last year I had twins. I had to put my membership on hold. I had a joint membership with my husband. We made it very clear that we wanted to put our entire membership on hold. It wasnt until months later that we realized that we had been charged for part of the membersip fee. After several attempts, we got it refunded. I finally started my membership again in January. I still have not been able to get back. I have been paying a membership for 5 months and not using it. I called to cancel my membership. Shaina and Linda both informed me that we would have to pay for the next month anyway. Linda did say that she would corporate, but that she couldn't promise anything. She called me back and said that she couldn't credit the next months charge. She said that they had already accommodated me for the partial membership fees from when my account was on hold. Are you kidding me?! You are telling me that you are accommodating me for a mistake that you made?! It is not like we were asking for the 5 months of unused membership back...just to not be charged the next month!!! The trainers at O2 are great, but the management sucks. I do not recommend this club! more

Going Out of Business? 10/25/2010

The facilities at O2 are all very nice and make working out less of a hassle, but lately I have been hearing that they are on their way towards not going out of business. I thought it was just a rumor but now they are not paying their employees on time and subsequently writing them bad checks. Also, apparently the rent is not being paid on the building but that is hearsay from where I stand. Be careful about signing contracts at O2, because it sounds to me like they are having some pretty serious financial problems if they are consistently unable to pay their employees on time!! I have cancelled my membership and plan to go to Lifetime or Rapid, as the facilities and prices are comparable. more

Great gym. Strongly recommend taking a look and enrolling. 10/12/2010

Since joining O2 nearly 3 years ago my experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Having been a collegiate athlete it has been difficult to find a gym with enough room, machines, weights and classes to keep my workouts exciting and fresh. O2 has provided a perfect venue for me to get in some great workouts.\r \r Not only is the facility state of the art but the staff and trainers are of the highest caliber and even the other members are far more respectful and cooperative than other gyms I have belonged to. more

I Love 02 Fitness Falls/540 10/11/2010

I've been a member at O2 for almost three years. I used to hate going to the gym, but ever since I've been going to O2 I love working out! The staff is always so nice and encouraging, new classes are added regularly, the personal trainers are eager to help with my fitness goals, and the facility is kept clean and well maintained. I can tell the O2 team truly cares about their clients and their fitness goals! They even have a member appreciation week a couple times a year where you can get free massages, food, energy drinks and they even host a social event at a restaurant in Raleigh. I also enjoy receiving the informative emails on how I can improve my eating, exercise, and my overall health on a regular basis. Rob is an amazing GM and has most definitely improved the quality of service and overall atmosphere at O2. I love my gym! more

Refreshing! 10/11/2010

What makes O2 fitness stand out from all other gyms in the triangle is their staff. At no other fitness chain have I met more motivating, friendly, and caring instructors, trainers, and other personnel in general! I have met so many great people here.\r \r If you care about your workouts as much as I do, you'll have no trouble finding a machine to use. Machines are always repaired very quickly and kept clean. The Falls location is a beautiful facility. I had never been much of a group class attendee until I joined O2. They quickly changed my opinion. There is no shortage of classes and the instructors are all top notch!\r \r I have joined many clubs in the triangle area and O2 is hands-down the best of the bunch! Highly recommended! more

It doesn't get any better 10/11/2010

O2 Fitness in general has been the best gym experience I have come across. I was a member of several gyms up north before I moved to Raleigh and they were all pretty much the same with outdated equipment, waste-of-space staff, and a shower that left you feeling more dirty than clean. When I came to Raleigh, I toured a few gyms with my wife, but as soon as we finished our tour at this particular O2, we were sold and became members that day. It is remarkable what you get for your membership fee. It is a steal. I payed more for a LOT less at previous gyms. This O2 has a great location, great staff, its clean, well kept, new, and has lots of room. There is a great variety of classes and other activities for all fitness levels at really convenient times. I've been a member for a year now and I have gone at least 5 days a week; you just can't get bored there if you take advantage of all the different classes, weights, and machines! Anyone looking for a gym should really give it a try. more

Most Enjoyable Club Yet! 10/11/2010

Having been a member of a variety of gyms/fitness clubs up and down the east coast, I have to say this is the best one in Raleigh. It is most enjoyable in the sense of good equipment, quality classes, and friendly staff, especially the instructors. It's also one of the nicest gyms I've been a part of and the closest Raleigh has to the NYC clubs like the Equinox or David Barton Gyms. No it's not cheap, but yes it's worth it. more

Watch Your Wallet 4/26/2010

I was a member of O2 Fitness (in Chapel Hill) for one year, at which time I went to the Chapel Hill facility and cancelled my membership due to several family hardships (loss of my mother and divorce). I was assured everything would be taken care of and was not asked to sign any papers. I might add that it was impossible to get in touch with anyone at the main office in order to verify the transaction.\r \r Almost three years later, I discovered that $69.00 was still be taken out of my checking account for this membership every month. I have to say, ""my bad"" as I realize I should have found this much sooner. However, the grief process does not leave much energy for clear thinking.\r \r I talked to the staff at O2 Fitness and found them to be very supportive but unable to do anything. Thus I was referred to Michael Olander, the owner I believe. I sent Mr. Olander a letter explaining my circumstances and asking for a refund. Three months later, after no response from him, I sent the same letter again, this time requiring signature. I have confirmation that he received my communication over 6 months ago and still no response. Nothing. At all.\r \r This is the type of service and treatment you can expect from the management of O2 Fitness. Pros: Staff at Chapel Hill facility Cons: Management more

Awesome! 2/5/2009

Never been a member of a gym before and for the past couple of years I've been wanting to join one. I've gone to check out a couple in the past; Planet Fitness, Gold's Gym etc..and had the worst experience with the people working there. I'm the kind of person that when I walk into a place, if I don't feel comfortable with the people AND where I am...I won't even consider it. I called O2 Fitness (which is around the corner from where I work) and spoke with Chelsea. I met her later that evening and she was extremely nice, accomodating, and knowledgeable of O2 Fitness' product. I came in the next day for an assessment and loved the trainer! I signed that day. Being a student, they do have discounts for student which the price is perfect for a tight budget! I love the atmospher and people. The locker rooms are always clean and comfy. I never have to wait for a machine and the trainers are extremely helpful. I highly recommend this place for those who have never worked out before and those that have. No intimidation here! Pros: Feel Comfortable, great location, great equipment Cons: parking more

Business management a total bust! 7/15/2007

Billed $25 for ""annual equipment maintenance"". A contract provision I didn't like but the convenience of the Southern Village (Chapel Hill) facility was important enough to let it pass. I have spent many years in business and have never experienced such an indifferent and calloused approach to customer satisfaction. The facility itself is a pleasant place, but just another fitness center with their choice of brand for machines. I was required to give credit card information tor billing for the annual fee (wait a minute! I am already paying an annual fee for use of the facility!! A substantial amount I must say compared to others clubs I have joined in the past! Shouldn't that handle wear and tear on the facility?). The credit card caused the problem! In March, April and May my credit card was charged $25 and the payee was shown only as ""Checkfree"". Each time I challenged the payment to my bank which suspended it and asked me to check with Checkfree. I did. They had no idea why or who had charged my account. After the April charge I canceled my credit card and was reissued another. That is when I found out who the mystery biller using ""checkfree"" was: O2 Fitness!! I found out because I received a nasty letter from them saying the payment was not honored AND that I not only owed $25 but a service charge of $25! I marched to the club, immediately got a blunt ""you should have read your contract, we charge you a$25 fee, etc"" I got a number to call, called it, left a message asking that the call be returned. Never happened! The regular manager (off for her birthday the day before) had been called about the phone message I left and explained it was all a mistake, ""the computer did it!"". . THEN! in June, yep, another dunning letter! As far as I am concerned they broke the contract in a number of ways and I want a refund for 4 months of the year remaining (I foolishly paid in advance), HAH, they say! They did refund $50 they wrongfully appropriated! Pros: Good hours, clean, suitable equipment Cons: No frills at all! (Sauna, whirlpool, etc.) more

Horrible Customer Service 6/20/2007

This is the first time I've ever posted a review on here, but I am SO disappointed in the complete unprofessionalism of the staff at this club (Raleigh) that I had to post one. I joined the club and decided to go month to month to see if I liked it. I was told that there's a 30 day cancellation notice required, but that really, if I notified them by the 15th of the month, they would be able to cancel by the end of the month. On the 2nd of May, my friend (who joined with me) and I both sent e-mails asking them to cancel our memberships. My friends was cancelled with no problems and I assumed mine was, too. At the end of May I got a card from the club welcoming me as a member. I figured after a month, they should have had my name off the membership list, so I e-mailed again asking for confirmation that it had been done. The beginning of June, I got my credit card statement showing that they charged me for the full month of June. I e-mailed a third time requesting a call back. A few days later I called and asked for the manager, who wasn't there and I left him a voice mail, explaining all this and asking for a call back. I went on vacation for a week and when I got back, I called the manager AGAIN and left him another voice mail asking for a call back, to cancel my membership and to reimburse me for June's dues which they charged me. It has now been SEVEN weeks since I first started requesting they cancel my membership and NO ONE at the gym has EVER returned even one of my phone calls or e-mails. I think I have been more than patient and have still never received any communication from them at all. I'm sure at this point, I'll be billed in July for another month that I will have to fight with them in order to get it refunded. Assuming I can ever get in touch with anyone there. \r \r The gym itself is nice, but if you ever have an issue or want to cancel, be warned that you will never get anyone to respond to you. Cons: No one responds when you have an issue, been waiting 7 weeks to hear from them more

O2 Fitness Cares Little For Customer Satisfaction 2/8/2006

I joined O2 fitness 12/31 with a month to month membership as I knew I would be moving. I paid $50 to join and then $50 for the dues for Jan. Mid-way through Jan they billed me a $25 club assessment fee. I moved house Jan 31 and went into cancel my membership. They said that because I didn't give 30 days notice, I would be billed for Feb. I tried to talk to the manager but noone was willing to budge on this ""contract clause"". So, I paid $175 to work out at O2 fitness for 32 days!! What ever happened to customer satisfaction? I would've been tempted to re-join if they had opened one near my new home in Garner. But now I would never re-join, nor would I recomend this gym to any of my friends. Pros: Clean Cons: Too Expensive, Not enough classes more

I've found my home. 1/24/2006

I've worked out all over the Raleigh area. This place is number one ... hands down. The trainers are excellent ... friendly and professional. Good free weights, good machines, good spinning bikes. Everything's good. Excellent weekend hours. Usually not crowded. more

Fitness with attitude! 3/14/2005

I go to O2 Fitness in Cary! Wow! What a place. The latest state-of-the-art equipment and a staff second to none! Any business can supply great equipment but the staff at O2 Fitness in Cary is helpful, friendly and they know fitness. They are always willing to help show you how to use the equipment properly. They walk around the facility and offer words of encouragement and ask for 2 more :-) I love this place! Jeanette Sneed Pros: staff, equipment, atmosphere more
