I recently used Nu Way to service my AC, and was charged $711 for 2.5 hours of work. This company lacks transparency in pricing and accountability for customer service. I will not recommend this company to anyone.
On June 22, 2011, I scheduled an appointment for Nu Way to come and service my AC. They charged $189 for diagnostic fee, which I agreed to. The diagnosis took a little over an hour, and the conclusion was there was no leak and that the coil needed to be flushed out and cleaned. They cleaned the coil by blowing compressed air through the hose to drain out the dirty water then recharged the Freon. The service took about an hour, and another 20 minute to test and make sure it was working. Up to this point I was ok with the service.
Then came the bill, totaling $669 before tax ($189 for diagnostic, $375 for labor and $105 for the Freon)! I am not the type that nickel and dime things, but this is just outrageously over priced, twice of what I paid for a similar service last year. The total time Nu Way spent was less than 2.5 hours, which translated to about $225 an hour before materials. I called them to discuss the bill noting that if they are charging $189 for diagnosis which was took over an hour, then they should subtract that 1 hour from the 2.5 hours that they were here. Their response was they don’t charge by the hours but by the job, so I asked them does the job of flushing out the coil and refilling the Freon cost $375? And their response was “ you got your AC fixed didn’t you, so what’s the problem”. I complained some more, then the guy said he will get back to me after he checks with the owner, of course no one ever calls back.
