I love my gym! The sauna and sun room get me in the door, the fun classes get me to stay.no wait for quality machines.Feels like a spa.

I've been a member here for almost eight years and have watched the club go steadily downhill for the last two or three years. When something breaks it can sit for weeks with a s...

A Fabulous Place to Workout 7/12/2006

I really love the personal trainers and the quality of the group fitness program. I love having the sauna and spa services on site. It's so convenient. Since NW Personal Training took over from Resort to Fitness, I have noticed much more variety in the group classes. NWPT also organizes trips and local outings. I am also impressed to see their support(sponsorship) for local athletic events like the Lacamas Lake Memorial Day run. Pros: Personal trainers, group classes, sauna Cons: Parking is inadequate, weekend hours could be longer more

Outstanding total program for health and fitness 7/9/2006

Since the McMillian's took over what was formerly Resort to Fitness, it had leaped upward in both professionalism and customer satisfaction. The McMillian, Sherri and Alex, are two of the most accomplished and knowledegeable fitness experts in this hemisphere (literally, they are asked to do trainings all over the U.S., Canada, and south of the border. Because this is a passion for them, and not just a business, they are happy to make sure providing members with knowledge, programs, and expertise needed to develop a well-rounded life-time fitness plan is the number one priority of their business. In addition to offering some of the best in terms of knowlege and committment, trainers, they offer free informational seminars on fitness training, nuitrition, menu planning, and general wellness. \r They also start with the philosophy that if they treat their employees well, the employees will pass on that satisfaction in their service. Actually, I think the McMillians do an outstanding job of hiring good people and then nurturing and supporting their staff because treating people well is part of their personal values- not just because it is good for business, but the results is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff that are a pleasure to work with and know how to make you feel welcome. I highly recommend this club more

Best example of how a gym should be 7/9/2006

Thank you Northwest Personal Training for letting me tour your gym and observe your trainers. You guys are fantastic. You have given me some great ideas for when I open my own business in Salem. Pros: Very friendly staff more

More than just a gym... 7/9/2006

Whether you want to lose weight, build strength, take a few classes to relieve stress or all of the above, this gym is the place to do it. The gym itself is fantastic. Clean, well decorated and full of the best equiptment. The staff is all excellent, including the very knowledgable trainers (I swear by everything Kathy B. teaches me), who are always willing to answer a few questions, even if you can't afford to spring for a session. The administrative staff is also excellent. They are not only friendly, but also extremely encouraging (and what's really impressive is that every single one of the staff seems to know every single member by name!). It may be a little more expensive than 24-Fitness, but it's well worth the extra money. Seriously. Not only is it a place where you are encouraged to work out as often as possible and to participate in their variety of programs, but it is also a place where you'll want to go. The environment is inviting and the rest of the clientelle are very encouraging of one another, making working out a positive experience. They also offer a variety of out-of-gym programs, including river rafting and various fitness challenges, as well as programs for parents and their kids. Pretty cool. Pros: Location, variety, trainers Cons: The few members that don't wear deoderant (but that's not really the gym's fault). more

New owners, atmosphere & equipment! 3/1/2006

As I sit here and read some of these reviews, i wonder how often some of you come to the club? They have been open on sundays for months now. I'm a 5 year member and am personal friends with the previous owners. They did not run the club anywhere near the professional level that the new ones do. They call us every other month to make sure I am using the club, the personal trainer i met with gave me great info on how to change my eating and routine to maximize my results. Most of the front counter girls are new, but they are not family members that don't want to be there, these girls talk more to me in the last 6 months than anyone did in the last 4.5 years. I love all the changes, it is much more upscale, caring and inviting than before. Pros: new equipment, better trainers, best group classes more

User review by sarajohn 2/28/2006

I have been a member here for 4 years and while I will stay a member because it is so close to my home I miss the gym it used to be. It has changed owners and has since been redecorated. It has lost it's feminine feel. It does have new great equipment. The new employees don't have the same caring attitude for each member. It is overpriced and they push personal training way too much. Pros: new equipment Cons: price more

Still too Dark - Not a motivating place to train 2/20/2006

For the membership price and the sales pitch I recieved over the phone I expected the facilities to be state of the art. What I found was a dark gym with no windows, (decorating was nice, but still does not hide the fact that you're working out in a basement!). Also, my ""free"" personal training session ended up being more of a sales pitch than a ""free consultation"". The group classes offered are about the only thing good here, but again, the classes I tried were either too full to move, or else there were only 1-3 of us, which makes for a bit of an intimidation if you do not like to be at the front of the class. Cons: No Parking, Expensive more
