Northeast Georgia Medical Center is northeast Georgia's preferred hospital for providing comprehensive neurological patient care.
We provide a broad range of diagnostic and treatment services for patients with neurological disorders, including:
* A rapid response stroke team that is Primary Stroke Center certified. Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) was awarded national certification as a Primary Stroke Center for the second year in a row by DNV Healthcare.
* Spine surgery and the use of minimally invasive technology. The spine specialists at NGMC are dedicated to providing restorative care that can help patients regain their functionality and alleviate pain. State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment is used to diagnosis and treat diseases and disorders affecting the spine.
* Multidisciplinary treatment of brain tumors using both surgical and stereotactic radiosurgery techniques. The Neurophysiology department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) offers a broad scope of diagnostic tests that study and record the electrical activity in the brain and nervous system. At NGMC, services are provided by an integrated, collaborative department of board-certified neurologists and experienced technicians who specialize in administering and interpreting diagnostic tests for a wide range of neurological disorders.
* Parkinson's Disease and Essential Tremor management using deep brain stimulation. DBS involves implanting a thin wire, called a lead, into the brain. An electrical current is sent through the wire until neurosurgeons find the frequency that best neutralizes the patient's symptoms and controls the tremor. The patient stays in the hospital overnight and then comes back two weeks later to have a controller placed for the stimulator, which works like a pacemaker for the brain.
* Continuous Electroencephalography (cEEG)-Also referred to as long-term EEG video monitoring, cEEG is similar to a routine EEG but instead of a short sample of brain activity, cEEG is designed to measure and trend brain activity and seizure spikes over a 24-72 hour period while simultaneously recording the patient. Continuous EEG monitoring is often used in critical care environments to identify subclinical or subtle, non-convulsive seizures.
* Sleep disorders testing - Fortunately, most sleep problems can be effectively managed. The Sleep Disorders Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment programs that can help patients lead healthier, longer and more productive lives.
* A full complement of advanced neurodiagnostic and imaging modalities - Northeast Georgia Health System's Imaging Services provides a comprehensive range of imaging technologies and services to help physicians diagnose and treat disease and illness. Our imaging centers are designed with a spa-like atmosphere to create a more relaxing environment for an enhanced patient experience.. Our neurosciences physicians include:
