North Light is a wonderful place 4/7/2011

North Light is such a warm and inviting place. I went by for lunch and had a lovely experience. I was greeted as soon as I entered by a bubbly barista who made me the best cappucino of my life. She even made a beautiful art in the cappucino foam! After a wonderful nutritious panini with local greens I browsed the bookstore. The bookstore gal was very helpful and knowlegable. What a lovely afternoon! more

Great food 3/10/2011

I visit North Light weekly and was shocked to read some of these negative reviews. The food is local and organic, not to mention tasty. North Light has vegan options and all of their baked goods are made in house. They have the widest range of vegetarian options for lunch: sandwiches, quesadillas and salads. There turkey melt never fails to please. more

bad food 11/28/2007

These people are very rude and I had an unpleasant dining experience there. The decor is dusty, mismatched and old. It may have been cool once, the mood there now is blank. The good chefs are gone and it seems like a hire and fire carousel for the Baristas. I want to have a nice place to drink coffee with a friend where the employees are at least familiar. This place needs a lot of work on moral and management. I only go there now to avoid going to Starbucks but after my recent bad dining experience and I would recommend to avoid eating there. Pros: Good Coffee Cons: Bad Vibes, Rude People, Poor Management more

Avoid this place 9/21/2007

My soup was served tepid and my sandwich was partially blackened from a fire/smoke. This place was ok before. Lately it is less than worthy of my time and money. When I asked the waitress about the sandwich she didn't speak English. Its also kind of loud for a bookstore and I couldn't get much reading done with all the noise. Cons: too many to start with more

Great community-oriented place with amazing food 3/4/2005

Live entertainment, group meetings, community and political discussions... way more than a bookstore. The owners, Carolina and Barbara, will order any books you want for very little markup. They always have a great variety and selection in stock. The focus is very political and artistic. Actually the great atmosphere and edginess give it a San Francisco feel. If you are hungry or thirsty they make all organic gourmet and delicious food (deli, baked goods, and fresh made specials) and brew some amazing coffee and espresso drinks. Get ahold of their calendar of events - and come to see guest artists, writers, poets, musicians, and more. The patrons vary from college students to elderly couples to punks to preps to queers to macho men. There is something about this place that brings many types of people and a plethora of regulars. Support this amazing place if you are in the area. Pros: intellectual, artistic, gourmet food Cons: food is expensive, limited stock, location more
