North Cove Outfitters

I agree with the other review that North Cove Outfitters is like a smaller version of LL Bean. Located off of Main Stree in Old Saybrook it is easy to find and has ample parking. They have everything from outwear, to camping and hiking supplies, fishing, canoes and kayacs etc. They even sell specialty software etc. If it is meant for the outdoors than you will find it here. They even offer "try before you buy" events. During certain times of the year they will travel to local ponds and lakes etc. and let you try out the canoes and kayacs before you purchase one. With such a pricey investment this is a great opportunity to find the right product for you before buying it. You can often find great coupons for North Cove Outfitters in the local papers, so keep an eye out. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because all of their stuff is very high end and has the appropriate price tags to go with it. Do not get me wrong they sell great merchandise, but if are looking for a bargain you will need to wait for a big sale event. more

The store carries everything from camping gear to fishing poles, kayaks and canoes, binoculars and eye wear, telescopes, gifts and toys, and beautiful high quality clothing. The brands include Patagonia, Merrell, Keene, North Face and offer outdoor wear along with casual clothing. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. They specialize in certain areas and can tell you exactly which gear is a good fit for you. They have bi-annual tent sales outside which offer huge discounts on the clothing and gear. more
