Editorial review from Citysearch 12/9/2013

Dr Brotzman, Stacy and the entire staff are the most wonderful, professional medical team I have ever seen. I have been a Registered Nurse for 43 years and I have never received the level of medical care, courtesy and compassion that I experienced when I have been under their care. I had foot surgery and was also seen for knee and back problems. Never did I have to wait over 10 minutes. Never did I feel rushed during a visit. My surgery exceeded my expectations. \r \r My special thanks to Dr Brotzman, Stacy and all the staff at NASM. You are the best!!!! more

Love Dr. Brotzman! 5/11/2011

I went in to see Dr. Brotzman on the recommendation of several other runners that I know. Although I waited 20 min. in the waiting room I quickly realized once I was in the room with him that he takes his time with each patient and explains everything in detail, which to me was well worth the wait. He was able to diagnose and treat my injury without surgery. He is a very caring and compassionate doctor. Since he's an athlete himself he really understands what it's like to be out of a sport for a while and does everything he can to get you back to what you love to do. I have since recommended several others to see Dr. Brotzman and they love him too. He's the best! more

Brotzman is best ortho in town!!! 5/4/2011

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Brotzman for years now and he's the best! He writes an Orthopedic book on sports injury rehab that is used in med schools and PT schools. He has them on display in the office and there's even one in Chinese! I have a friend who is in PT school in New York and when I mentioned that Brotzman was my doctor she asked if I would have him sign her book which I thought was funny since he's so personable. Apparently he's a household name with the therapist and sports medicine docs. He's obviously very knowledgable and can quote studies on your injury if you're like my dad and want all that info :) more

Dr. Brotzman, Camille and Tom are the Best! 8/17/2008

My teenage daughter totaled her ankle and through the advice of the number one physical therapist at NAMC (also the place where I work), we went to Dr. Brotzman for an eval (pretty much immediately). My boss, who is the number one triathlete in her age group, also has had surgeries and treatments by him and Dr. Graham. Back to my daughter, Dr. Brotzman operated on her ankle three times. After extensive physical therapy, we were done and thought the nightmare was over. She fell and totaled the other ankle, even worse. Dr. Brotzman went in on that ankle and did everything the first surgery so that we wouldn't have to go through the long drawn out process like the first ankle. With that said, we saw him almost every time and when it was necessary, we saw Camille (Awesome!). When needed, she would call on Dr. Brotzman and he didn't hesitate to pop in. In the beginning, Tom was there quite often and even though he is behind the scenes now, he would also pop in and check on her progress. These people were there for us for two years. A couple of times we had to wait a while but I knew that he would give us that personal attention that I knew he was giving the patients ahead of us and it was worth the wait. When it came time for me to have surgery on my wrist I didn't hesitate to call on Dr. Brotzman. As always, an awesome outcome. Dr. Brotzman and Tom helped us with insurance and a couple of other things that made a big difference. Now, the girls up front...they can be rude and unfriendly on occasion but nothing compared to ADC across the street. There was a very rude girl at check in and I complained to Tom, he told me she was rude to him too. That made it almost hilarious. The next time we came in, they got rid of her or she straightened up (I can't remember what she looked like). I also want to mention Norma, everytime you call, she has the nicest voice and very friendly, I wish she did everything not just transfer. I very much recommend this office. more

Arrogant, rude staff, horrendously long wait times 7/8/2008

Dr. Brotzman was highly recommended to me. I have seen several other top Orthopods (in other cities)- so I have a good basis of comparison. \r \r I was quite disappointed with Dr. Brotzman. The following are my major gripes: extremely rude staff; horrendously long wait times; arrogance; and attempts to bill for services not rendered. \r \r Although Dr. Brotzman undoubtedly has fans in Austin, beware. He does not live up to his reputation.\r Pros: seemingly good reputation Cons: rude staff; long wait times; fraudulent billing; no bedside manner more

Dr. Brotzman 12/17/2007

I had a friend refer me to Dr. Brotzman for an old wrist injury. After having had two surgeries on my wrist, Dr. Brotzman agreed that surgery was the only way to fix the problem. He stated that he wanted to be a bit more aggressive in treatment. After only two weeks post op, my wrist was vastly improved. I continued to do the prescribed therapy...and today I have a fully functional wrist. Since that time, I have acquired a really bad case of tennis elbow (no, I don't play tennis). Dr. Brotzman saw me within a week, injected me with some cortisone and warned me that this might not completely fix the problem. However, he was totally on target in diagnosing the problem, and explained how ""over use"" injuries occur and how they can be prevented. I now have a better computer set up both at home and at work. His skills are great, his bed side manner is great, and I will continue to send folks to him. Pros: Very knowledgable, gives great prevention message Cons: Limited access as office hours are few more

High-level of medical care, sub-standard adminstrative experience 11/24/2007

I visited the North Austin Sports Medicine (NASM) office after incurring a sports injury. I needed urgent surgery and was promptly scheduled and subsequently underwent successful surgery. After concluding post-operative treatment I was referred to a specialist therapist and ultimately the injury is now a thing of the past. Although I did receive a premium level of quality medical care I was very frustrated by the same 'long office wait times' that other reviewers also encountered although I never experienced rude staff. If NASM can remedy the administrative negatives then they can be considered to provide the complete service. more

Favorite Doc and PA! 8/4/2007

We were referred to Dr. Brotzman by NAMC ER 4 yrs. ago when my elderly father fell and fractured his hip. Dr. Brotzman performed a successful hip replacement and treated my dad with respect and dignity.\r \r I have also been a long-time patient of Dr. Brotzman, seeing him many times for recurring knee pain/swelling related to a connective tissue disorder. I selected Dr. B for an arthroscopic synovectomy procedure on my knee with GOOD RESULTS!\r \r He is a VERY personable, highly skilled and compassionate physician. Do not hesitate to schedule an appt. with his PA, Camille Barton. She is AWESOME and very competent. Both will spend time with diagnosis and will be happy to address any concerns/questions you have.\r \r The staff has been pleasant to me and my phone calls have ALWAYS been returned in a timely manner. The office manager, Tom McVan is nice, professional and very knowledge in sports injuries.(He was previously Head Trainer for UT football team!)\r \r I have recommended and will continue to refer all my friends/family to Dr. Brotzman and Camille. VERY PLEASED! Pros: Highly skilled, Nice Doc and PA Cons: As with any surgeons office, there will be times when you have to wait. If so, know that you will receive the time & attention you deserve when seen. more

Wouldn't recommend!!! 6/24/2007

I have seen a few orthopedic surgeons in Austin (auto accident left me with problems), and I would not recommend this office if you're wanting a doctor and staff that have some compassion. Dr. Brotzman is nice (personable), but it's impossible to see him when you really need him. Staff could care less if you're in pain. Also, the dr. is always overbooked and you spend alot of time in the waiting room...Not worth the trouble!! The new location is annoying. I would never consider surgery with this dr. because I think you'd be left hanging afterwards. Find a different doctor with a nice staff and a Central location!!!! Pros: Nice TV in waiting room. Cons: Rude, uncaring staff. Difficult to get appt. when in pain. Dr. unavailable most of the time. more

Highly Recommend 5/29/2007

North Austin Sports Medicine was recommended by a friend and I would HIGHLY recommend NASM to ALL of my friends. Dr. Brotzman is very personable and his PA, Camille Barton, is awesome! I have no complaints. My son's knee is back to working the way it should. Pros: Very personable Doctor and PA more

Bring a book, you'll be waiting a long time. 4/11/2007

I've been to sports med docs before, as a former soccer player, they've been my best friends. While I can't fault the expertise of the PA (in 7 visits, I NEVER saw the doc himself), I can fault the rude office staff, the excessively LONG waits (waited 30 to get back, 45 to see the PA). I also don't like that they tried to bill my health insurance for things that were not done. If it were not for the fact that I had to finish treatment, I would have gone elsewhere. If you're thinking of chosing North Austin Sports Med, GO SOMEPLACE ELSE. It's not worth the headache. **The new location on Mopac is HORRIBLE, they should have stayed behind North Austin Medical Center, it was nicer & more convenient! Pros: PA was knowledgeable Cons: Parking, location, service, insurance billing, Office Staff more
