Norman Regional Hospital

This is where I was born over 40 years ago. The hospital has grown quite a bit during those years, and it seems to be for the better. The staff is always friendly and helpful, many of the docents will walk you all the way to your destination! Now, I admit, sometimes this is necessary for as the hospital has grown in it's limited space, some of the hallways get confusing from the old part to the new part of the building.\r I've helped folks get to and visited many at this hospital and for the most part they seem to have pretty good care. There are the usual complaints I think that are given in most all hospitals. But by and large most folks around here prefer to go there than any of the other small town hospitals. more

I drove all the way from the Choctaw/Jones area to Norman to have our first child. The Women's Center is AMAZING! I felt like a queen! Their birthing suits are HUGE! There is of course the bed, but there was also decorative art that slid down over all the medical supplies, so it didn't FEEL like a hospital room until it had to. There was a couch with a fold out bed for my husband to stay on. A kitchen type table and chairs, a rocking chair, an armoire with a TV and VCR in it.. Each room has its own thermostat so you can choose your own comfort level.The nurses were outstanding. They really knew what they were doing, and were so pleasant. They were great to take the baby when it was time for me to rest, and even better to bring her to me as soon as she showed signs of being hungry. Their security standards were excellent! I cried my eyes out (literally, several times!) when I found out that my new insurance company wouldn't let me deliver my 2nd child at this hospital. HIGHLY recommende more

The doctors at Norman Regional Hospital are really top notch in my book. Unfortunately, my husband and I have chronic illnesses that put us in the hospital much too often. Because of this, we have been through the emergency room at Norman Regional on many occasions, and have seen most of the doctors there at one time or another! There are many great things about this hospital. First, the wait time is not long at all. They really do get you back quickly, almost every time. Second, the nurses are wonderful, although I think nurses are wonderful everywhere! But the doctors at Norman Regional really deserve some credit. With the exception of one doctor, we have been pleased with the care from every one of them. They take the time to really listen to your complaints. They don't blow off tests, they are very thorough. They make sure that you have proper follow up care scheduled, and that you have clear instructions on how to care for your injury after you leave the hospital. An more
