I just had the most bizare experience 8/2/2009

I just had the strangest experience... I have eaten lots of times at Joy Noodles and have always had a great experience... and paid with a credit card. Tonight I brought friends in for a bite, told them how great it was... and it was, everything we ordered was good, service was the best... TO A POINT!!!! WTF???? We came with only a credit card, I have never paid with anything other than a credit card, because we sat at one table and not one more to the south we had to pay with cash. The waiter did not let us know that, (there is a sign inside). After much discussion and a rude altercation with the owner we did come up with enough for the ticket however only after the owner called the police because we were stealing from him. ABSOLUTELY horrible experience. I can not believe I was treated this way by a restaurant that I frequent, that is in my neighborhood and that I brought people into to introduce them to it. \r \r Joy Noodles... F@*k You!!!!!!\r Cons: Will not take a Credit Card if you order from the bar??????? more

Fun and Reliable 9/26/2007

A great place to go with friends on a weeknight. Take a couple bottles of wine and enjoy the consistently good, although basic dishes. The food is standard Thai fare, but is well done with generous portions - a great value. Service is friendly and there are certainly sure to be some characters to enjoy in this Boystown favorite. A fun place for friends, but I wouldn?t recommend it for a date or a romantic experience. Pros: Portions, Reliability, Liveliness, Value Cons: Too Bright!!! more

Yummy Food 9/19/2007

best thai in chicago 7/22/2007

joy's is probably the best thai place north of downtown. Their food is outstanding---flavorful and very generous portions. Their noodles are fantastic as are their curry dishes. Their prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. Their delivery service is prompt and friendly (and you can order online!) I can't say anything negative about this place. Pros: large portions, quality, inexpensive, online ordering for take out/delivery more

Great all around 4/12/2006

Discovered this place when I was new to the neighborhood & it has remained a favorite. Cheap, great portion size, delicious. Even if you don't ""know"" Thai food, you're likely to find something you like on the menu. The free appetizers with lunches during the week are always fresh & delicious. I love the Pad Thai, Phuket Noodles, the curries... I could go on & on. The service is always speedy & the waiters never balk if you ask that something be left out or added to your dish. Pros: Great value for price, Cozy atmosphere, Quick service more

What can't I say? 3/14/2006

Joy's is a place that will leave a lasting impression and leave you wanting to come back time and time again. Their food is always fresh, flavorful, inexpensive and you will almost always go home with leftovers! I can honestly say that my friends and I count down the days until we go to Joy's next and know that we are getting some of, if not the best Thai food in town. We are huge fans of the newly redone menu, which now features appetizers such as crab rangoon(the best I've ever had) and old favorites like Pad Thai and Fried Rice. Kudos to the staff who are professional and by far the best around. Take out is fast and is always the same quality as when you dine in. Joy's had made it's staple in Lakeview that we hope never disappears. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Parking Tight more

Pretty good 8/8/2003

I'm not big on Thai food but since I'm trying to eat healthier, it seems the way to go. The food here is very good! The most expensive entree was $7. Can't beat that at all. Service was super-fast and professional. more

Always a stop by 3/6/2003

My partner & I are in Chicago several times a year, and we always make it a point to stop by Joy's everytime. Great food! Pros: flavor of food, enviroment, value more

easy on the thai's 10/29/2002

I find the selction is nothing to gawk at, it has the staples as with any other Thai restaurant, pad thai, that chicken and beef salad and the ubiquitous chicken satay! I must say that I have never left this place unhappy . You can always be assured that anyone who walks into this homey place will walk out satisfied and counting the days until there next trip here. Now, since I do live down the street I must give this restaurant two ratings. One for great food made with fresh ingredients and the other for some of the fastest and freshest take out this side of the mississip! I also live down the street from Leona's and it takes them an hour to deliver a pizza, while Joy's only takes roughly ten minutes. Now that's what I call Thai in your eye! Pros: fresh ingredients, ample choices, BYOB!! Cons: only one in town more

Yum 10/21/2002
