The best chiliburger in town, for sure! Great steak fries, too. And, a full menu until 2 am. Love the Nobby! Pros: good food, open late more

The 60s 1/20/2004

Back in 1966 I had the pleasure of spending 5 months in Portland. I was in the Navy and our ship was in Willamitte iron works. The Nob Hill Bar and Grill was then called Nobbies( probably misspelled) and we had a most enjoyable time there. The next time i'm in Portland I will definately stop on for a beer. Glad to hear your still there. Pros: Cold beer, Great people, CLASS Cons: None, None, None more

This place is a good place to go with a couple of friends for dinner and drinks. I enjoyed the beer here and the burger and fries that I had. They also have $2 tacos during happy hour, which I have yet to try. Pros: Decent food, Beer, Inexpensive Cons: Small more

NW Pdx's saving grace 1/2/2003

Everytime I have to go to Northwest Portland, I always make it a point to stop here (Usually for a hambuger or cheese burger). Sometimes I even I go just to have a hamburger or one of there other great sandwiches. I have never been disappointed. Pros: Great food, Good service, Friendly more

Neighborhood Tavern 9/12/2002

A NW Portland staple. Friendly, interesting people; regulars and staff. Fine service. Typically tasty comfort foods. Windows on street scene provide views in the summer, including beautiful people and occasional nut cases. Cozy in the winter, though a tad grimy and redolent. Good Samaritan Hospital regulars at lunch, becoming more eclectic as the day progesses. A short but effective range of beers on tap. Bottles too. No mixed drinks. Fifty-cent tacos on Monday evenings. House mottos are ""Tax Lattes Not Beer"" and ""Smoke Free 'til Three (p.m.)"" Look out for your health after that. (Note the sign ""This entire establishment is designated a smoking area."") Several TVs play sports with folks who diligently watch them. I love this place. A neighbothood tavern with good Feng Shui. Pros: food, staff, regulars Cons: amenity more

Awesome Burger!! 9/5/2002

The Nobby burger has to be the best in town, it's an entire meal all by itself. This is a funky and fun place to eat, usually crowded with local burger and beer fans. Lunchtime is the best time to go, service is quick and friendly but at night it's grumpy (sometimes rude - my wife won't go at night) and slower paced. Pros: great food, inexpensive, fun atmosphere Cons: rude service more

fabulously good burgers 8/30/2002

It is a nice establishment to go to and relax, order one of those burgers, network with others in attendance and watch the latest game on the screens. I try and visit this place several times a week. I really enjoy the service, the food and location. Pros: never crowded, no loud music, inexpensive more

scrumdillicious! 8/28/2002

Paradise on 23rd 8/22/2002

I live in the neighborhood and came across this place some time ago. The food is great and the prices are cheap compared to 23rd ave prices. I love the nobby burger, double patty with choice of bacon or ham, served on a huge toasted bun. It's also the best sports bar on the ave. Pros: prices are cheap, freshness of food, friendly crowd Cons: gets a little crowded, smokey late more

  • In Short
For trendy NW 23rd Avenue, this bar is politically incorrect: dark, smoky and a little shabby. But crowds flock to watch sports on TV and enjoy the food. Burger connoisseurs love...
