Noah's Potato Chips were the best potato chips I have ever eaten. They were made here in Alexandria. They are no longer! You can no longer buy Noah's Potato Chips.
I remember, as a kid, riding down Lee Street and smelling the aroma of potato chips. Oh, what a geat aroma!!! Lay's has nothing on Noah's. This was absoutely the best chips around. Being made here locally, the were also the freshest chips you could buy. I can remember mom buying them in a big can (like about a three gallon can). The can was yellow with blue lettering.
Once, I actually toured the Noah's potato chip plant. It was a class field trip. We got to see how potato chips were made from start to fininsh.
First the potatoes went through a cleaning/wash, then they went through a slicer. The slices rode on a conveyor belt to the vat for frying, then the draining process and a conveyor belt ride (drying off as they rode) to the packaging area. They fell into bags and the bags were sealed. Then they were hand packed into boxes for shipment to retail stores. It was a very interesting setup. I am sure that things are much more techinical now days.
You just can't beat the taste of Noah's Potato Chips.
