This museum is the largest Little Town Museum in Iowa. We are very proud of our little Museum. We started the Historical Society in the mid 1900's. We purchased our first Store and opened the Museum in that store in the mid 1970's. We later purchased two more stores and linked them together. Our museum is about 150' by 150' in overall size. Our displays are mostly of the local area but not confined to this. We have displays from around the world, brought in by local people. Come see our amazing artifacts, including the map quilt, tool room, post drill, collection of husking hooks, a music room featuring a Victrola and Edisons, vintage dresses, doll collection, and much more!
Our museum is your local museum with many local exhibits showcasing the history of the Nishna Valley in addition to other historical exhibits from around the world. We currently have 4 historical buildings downtown featuring over 3,000 articles. We have a large focus on your local history close to home. We are open on the weekdays from 11 am until 3 pm. Tours are available anytime by appointment. You may call 712-482-6814 or 712-482-6686 to make an appointment for tours.
