AVOID - AVOID!!!!!!!!!!! 7/23/2006

The decor is very nice until you reach the bathrooms which look like they belong at LAX. Pros: Easy to get a table Cons: Bad service more

Nirvana is no paradise 6/6/2006

1st off this isn't an ""asian inspired"" menu. It's indian and while that's fine it's completely misleading to call it anything else. Deep frying salmon does not make you an Asian restaurant. The service was awful. We waited for the check for 1 hour! We had to request the check 4 times. Everyone had finished and we were all just sitting and waiting. The food was pretty bad and honestly people weren't there to eat, they were there to be seen. The drinks were good - nothing more pricey then any other place. The bussing staff was hoovering over us and was literally snatching our plates out from under us but the wait staff was nowhere to be seen. This restaurant is terrible. I'm sorry to say it and usually I'm pretty forgiving but this was just horrible and totally unacceptable, especially considering the prices. Cons: Everything more

Beyond Poor service 12/29/2005

Update: I cant believe this place is still around.. Also I think that some of the reviews are from employees of the restaurant.. This place has not improved at all. They made us wait for an hour. The food and drinks were bad. The service was poor. They mixed up our drink and our food orders. They charge atrociously for all extras which are customarily free at other indian restaurants. The wait staff is really inexperienced. The bar tender was very rude. .unfortunately we had to stand there since the hostess made us wait for our table. The owner of the restaurant was also present and it was a sorry sight. Instead of assisting us he was trying hard to be hip Pros: Chairs to Sit down Cons: , Bad Food, Bad Drinks more

Wonderful Restaurant 12/14/2005

I took my friend here for his birthday. Everything was perfect. We were running late, so the hostess held a bed for us. The food was fantastic (especially the mushroom appetizer). The atmosphere was relaxing (not flossy like most LA restaurants). The drinks were delicious. The Mango Mojito is a winner!! It's expensive, but worth it!! Pros: Accomodating Staff, Great Food/Drinks, Cool Atmosphere more

treat you like royalty........ 9/28/2005

i came for dinner for the first time and i was taken away--servers treat you like royalty, nice and prompt, helpful. the lighting and music and look hits the right spot for a party! i came here with a group of people and it's best for just kickin' it with a drink after work. i'm going to come here for a date. best of all, the art is great, so is the patio. very sophisticated. try the lettuce wraps and mushroom appetizer. yum!! Pros: good parking, yummy drinks Cons: too relaxing more

I had a memorable experience at ""Nirvana"" of Beverly Hills. The food was outstanding, the ambience was terrific, and the service was friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant. more

Dinner by the fire 9/26/2005

What can I say....It really blew me away! The food is glorious...hmmm venison (you gotta try this if you go there). This place is out of the ordinary. Once you enter the wooden door with a carved buddha head, you will feel that as if you're not in LA anymore. It has that kind of rustic but serene energy that you can't find anywhere. The fireplace seating was the best seat I got, really romantic. After dinner we asked to be transfered to the bed seating for a more intimate conversation while ""boozing"". Our group were seated promptly upon arrival and greeted with wide smiles by gorgeous staff. The music is great too! I will bring my girlfriend next time I go and will reserve the table by the fire... Pros: food, ambience, service more

Magic!! 8/26/2005

I felt like I was on vacation as soon as I walked through the door. I was with some friends and the staff was soooo nice! Recommened great food (stuffed mushrooms & scallops!), very friendly. Awesome drinks. My martini was perfectly chilled! The music and vibe of the whole night was just perfect. This is my new favorite place. more

Horrible overall experience, ridiculous prices 5/23/2005

Let me make this simple if you're thinking of a nice evening. DO NOT go here. This place, in a word, sucks. Decor- kind of cool. The beds are ok for drinks but annoying to eat dinner. Food- ok, but way too expensive. But the main reason I would never go there again is because of the owner/host. He is obnoxious, rude and ungrateful to customers. And that to me is unacceptable. I refuse to have someone profit off me who is a jerk. And from what I've read in other reviews, most people agree. By the way, you can't just go there for a drink, you need to have dinner first. Which would only make sense as an establishment if you want to lose money. You should not be able to treat customers the way they do, so I hope people stay away and they go out of business. Pros: decor Cons: horrible treatment, overpriced, rude more

Rude, rude rude 2/22/2005

We planned a b-day dinner for our dear friend. We reserved one of the ""beds"". . When we made the reservations we were told that we needed to buy two bottles of wine and we were fine with that. When we arrived, they told us we had to buy 2 bottles of hard liquor, we (4 girls) with two bottles of hard liquor priced at $150 each .........???????? They were very rude. Never ever met such rude people, including the owner!!!!! The bar tender was cocky and rude too. What a bad experience! We felt they did not deserved our money, so we left! Cons: All more

Don't bother 2/15/2005

The drinks are completely over priced, $18 for a vodka and an amstel light? are you kidding? The staff is completely rude, acting as if you are bothering them, especially the female bartenders. Fireside dining, HUH? ok, sure. The ""koi pond path"" needs some work, its tacky, run down and in need of repair. The beds are in the way, there is no flow to the place at all. Bad experience, needs work, definitely wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Oh and if you are going for the night time scene, its going to a casting call for the WB. ridiculous! Cons: Unreasonalbly pricey, Rude staff, incompetent staff more

This is Indian food?? 2/12/2005

We went to Nirvana last night which my husband (tall, slim guy) but he could not fit his legs under the table so we moved to a lounge table. The lounge is nice but not really ideal for eating a meal unless you don't mind hunching over a coffee table to eat. A manager came over and handed us a crumbling photocopy of the menu and told us our waitress hadn't arrived yet (It was 7:15 p.m.). The food looked interesting buy pricey and there is none of the usual Indian curry dishes. If you want a really good curry, head to the Bombay Palace directly across the street. Owned by the same people as Nirvana, it has an excellent selection of delicious, traditional Indian food. We decided to go there after spending less than ten minutes in Nirvana... Pros: Atmosphere, Romantic Cons: Pricey, Low Tables, Where's the waitress? more

LA's Best 9/15/2004

No place like this in LA. Exotic , Trendy, Amazing Food, Excellent Service. Perfect place for a romantic dinner or just hitting the bar for some Martini's. The Lamb Chops are to die for. The service is quite, the servers are cute and polite. A hot night spot you gotta hit!!!! Pros: Exotic, Trendy, Romantic more

the best place in town 9/10/2004

I have been there many times and I love everything. The food is amazing, the music and the ambience to die for. The service is great and totally improved from when it first opened. My favorite dish are the lamb chops and all apetizers. I will have my birthday party there and I can't wait. Pros: food, ambience, music more

Very Cool 8/31/2004

Nirvana is a super cool lounge, awesome indian food and stocked with pretty people. I recommend it. more

Coolest Lounge & restaurant 8/30/2004

once you enter through the large Buddha door you are in a different world. The decor, music , food & service is awesome. I have dined with my friends a few times and celebrated my b'day in the lounge on the beds. We had the best time and cannot wait to go back Pros: romantic more

Nirvana ! 8/30/2004

This was the way I was feeling after an evening of lounging around in a bad, sipping Nirvana drink and eating great grilled indian Scallop, and divine mushrooms, the music is incredible, will watching indian video and the admostphere so...romantique. I will be back, it was easy to give my car to the valet parking and and enter a restaurant who was so welcoming, the service was great our hostess was very charming. Pros: high class customers, music, food more

I cannot believe they are still in business!! 7/17/2004

wow here is a place that epotimizes the phrase of bad service. Do not go here in a large group they wont know what to do with you. They provided us with seating for 12 when we reserveed for 20 and told us they hoped the remainder of our guests dont show up. What the heck is that??? It takes 30 minutes to get a drink from their very slow and only bar tender. Food is overpriced and just okay have had better Indian food. Overall decor is nice but doesnt compensate for the horrible, incompetent, and rude staff!! Pros: Decor, Music Cons: Bad Service, Bad Service, overpriced food oh yes and horrible service more

where's the curry!?!? 6/8/2004

I LOVE Indian food. So i was excited when this new trendy Cal-Indian restaurant opened up. i was expecting alot because i really like Bombay Palace. I was soo disappointed in the menu selection. What kind of Indian place does not have curry!?!?! Seriously!? overall....it has a cute decor, great for a girls night out. but if you want authentic indian food...walk across the street. Pros: DECOR/AMBIANCE, GARLIC BUDDHA BREAD, LAMB DISHES Cons: , NO CURRY, NO CURRY more

food/decor does not make up for service 4/26/2004

Considering how good the food and service is at it's sister restuarant across the street (Bombay Palace), Nirvana is a disappointment. Scene and decor are fantastic, but an attempt at new-Indian is so-so, esp. given the star chef from India. For a high-end venue in Beverly Hills, service is very inconsistent. Probably worth a try once, but only if you can tolerate the wait and poor service. To their credit, there are a couple staffers that are very nice, but you'll be lucky if you find them. Pros: Scene, Decor Cons: , Food more
