I love Nippon for its down to earth approach. As far as I know, they were the first sushi restaurant to set up shop in Houston. They favor authenticity over flashiness. These days sushi seems to be all about trendy after work hangouts for yuppies, but less than ten years ago it was much more about the kind of close, quiet, pleasant restaurant. Cheers, not Studio 54. If anyone remembers those days and is sick of the overpriced and pretentious feel of the newer places, I highly recommen Nippon! Besides the quiet, comfortable, casual atmosphere, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, the sushi is good, and the value is excellent. You can actually get a good meal and pay much less than you would expect to at a sushi restaurant. Nippon is one of the best lunch spots around me, I highly recommend stopping by for lunch and getting one of the bento boxes. The non-sushi dishes are very good, and the portions are perfect. Bottom line if you love sushi, Japanese retaurants, and food in general, you can't afford to miss Nippon!
Pros: Lunch specials, good food, good value, friendly and competent service.
