Great Experience 1/8/2011

My boyfriend and I dined here Wednesday night to celebrate my getting a job. They have a $49.99 couples menu on Tue-Thu nights. We went with that. It is a bottle of wine, an app, two entrees, and a dessert. I think it is quite a good deal. Our food was awesome. The calamari was cooked perfectly (we seem to have issues with this at places that just can't cook calamari right!). My boyfriend ordered the Gyro Platter (I teased him for not trying something *different*) and it was AMAZING. That was the best tasting gyro meat I have ever tried in my life! I had the Chicken Nikos and it was equally as good. The food is very fresh and clearly prepared to order - not sitting in the kitchen in a pan. For dessert, we chose the caramel cheesecake which was also wonderful. I can't remember our server's name (younger blonde male) but he did a fantastic job (especially considering he seemed to be slammed with tables). We will most definitely go back! more

Great but so what? 9/2/2010

I would give them 5 stars based on food alone. But there is more to the dining experience than food. I would give them no stars considering our overall experience. more

Highly Recommend 12/2/2009

My husband and I eat there almost every week because it's fresh and healthy food at affordable prices. We generally go for the appetizer/starter menu items are just as satisfying as a full meal. If you have never eaten there before try the crab cakes - it comes with 2 crab cakes and side salad. Pros: Fresh, healthy food at affordable prices more

Awesome Food, Service and atmosphere 11/10/2009

In response to the previous post...........I was at Nikos that day sitting on the other side of the wall and heard everything that went on with the table. They never asked for separate checks. They wanted to use a coupon that they didn't even have with them. She did ask if everything was good. Remember it is not the servers fault if the kitchen takes too long to cook the food. They were rude to her. When she did bring the check, they rudely told her to split it, barking at her the whole time while she was explaining to them she wasn't sure if she could split it with the other coupon they had presented her, and she would get a manager. As for her adding a tip, if the coupon used was from the city pass book, the coupon itself clearly reads they will add a 18% gratuity on the bill before the discount. At the bottom of the menu, it states that they can add a gratuity to SPLIT CHECKS. NOW, that the poor waitress was SLAMMED to death, in this post. I personally have had KRISCHA wait on me and my business associates, NEVER once did she ever do anything like you described. She is an excellent waitress who does not get paid enough to deal with what servers have to go through. I frequent this establishment weekly. She is always my waitress and she is wonderful. Remember, there are 2 sides to every story, and while the original poster might have been upset at the length of time the order took to cook, slamming a waitress is just plain low. It seems like they wrote this while they were angry, maybe at the fact that they couldn't use a coupon that they didn't have with them, I don't know. But I heard them the whole time and they were not very nice people. I love the food at Nikos, the service is great, especially when KRISCHA is waiting on me, I think the order to table is just right. Bill and James are wonderful!! Everyone makes you feel like family. If you are looking for a great authentic greek restaurant, Nikos is the place to be, and ask for Krischa, she will give you the best service. Pros: Great food and service Cons: nothing more

Don't Waste Your Time 10/13/2009

My co-workers and I tend to think of Nikos as a treat because the food is always very delicious but slow so we only frequent on special occasions. Recently we took a co-worker for her birthday and the waitress KRISCHA gave us horrible service. We were the first table of the day and it took us 1 hr and 20 minutes for LUNCH. KRISCHA just dropped off our food and never returned to the table to see if we needed anything or if the food was ok. While we waited to get her attention to collect our check, she was chatting with co-workers in view of our table. Once we finally made eye contact with KRISCHA, we raised our hand to indicate we needed to see her, she was close enough for us to hear the comments she made, ""I can see you"". Wow! is all I could think, not to mention the other ladies at the table heard the remarks. Things got worst as if they could, she gave us one single check without a word, which we asked for seperate checks before we ordered, or so we thought. Already at the restaurant over an hour we did not receive an itemized receipt, KRISCHA had added herself a tip, without any indication she was adding this on (never received the itemized check back). If you chose Nikos to dine, please review your check, do not take a coupon, make sure the waitress/waiter understands if you need seperate check. If you are in a hurry do not even bother. Pros: Food is delicious Cons: Service is worst I've ever experienced. more

I've had better. 8/31/2009

Nothing against Greek Cuisine, but the prices at Niko's are very high. The service is horrible. I had to ask my server over and over again for a refill on my drink. The food came out cold. I ordered the Pastitsio and had it sent back to the kitchen. My Wife ordered the chicken stew and the chicken had a fishy taste to it. We won't be visiting this restaurant anymore. Oh and how bad is it when the owner is yelling at his waitstaff right in front of the table that's being sat, very embarassing. Cons: Horrible service, food wasn't fresh. more

Authentic greek with urban convenience 12/29/2008

My husband and I call this 'our special greek place'. This isn't like the fast ""Mediterranean"" food places that have popped up around town. It's being greeted warmly at the door, seated at linen covered tables with real glassware and in addition to a regular menu offering; daily chef prepared specials are recited by a wonderful wait staff that make it a 'go to favorite'. The food is rooted in the tradition of authentic recipes and include some with gourmet flair. Even those not familiar with this old world culinary taste will find the food quite enjoyable. We always recommend the entree specials and have never been disappointed...NOT ONCE!! When it's available the whole red snapper is our teenage son's pick, the filet with scallops is my husbands and you can't go wrong with the braised lamb shank or braised beef over noodles. Do try the hummus, yogurt garlic dip or fried cheese ball appetizer. Other traditional choices include the spanakopita (spinich pie) and Mousaka (eggplant pie) and a traditional chicken lemon soup that's perfect on a cold day. Don't pass on dessert, recomendations from the staff are always good bets and can be taken home 'to go' as well. This restaurant attracks a range of clientele that include business groups, families and couples. The separate bar area also offers a nice place to meet for a drink after work or the movie. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed so you can feel confident whether bringing just yourselves or guests that you'll receive a great dining experience. Pros: Knowledgable and attentive staff, menu variety, pleasant atmosphere, easy parking more
