Fun place.. decent club atmosphere 12/21/2009

On the plus side their happy hour food deals are great and they fill up and have good hip hop at night. On the negative side their mixed drinks are kind of weak (at least during happy hour) and the dance floor is set up right where everyone who is not dancing is trying to walk through. If they moved the DJ to a less busy corner this place would be a 10/10. Pros: Hip hop club near the beach, good happy hour Cons: Not the best dancefloor layout more

Great Beach Bar 7/8/2008

We serendipitously found this place recently while strolling through Venice - mainly because I was looking for a restroom. We stopped for a round and boy were we glad we did. Great open space, fun music and people, great bar food - all enhanced with wonderful CA sunshine. We didn't stay long but we did enjoy great appetizers, wine and cocktails - so much so that we are heading back there this week. I read they have a grilled cheese with bacon - what can be better than that??? Pros: Fun Vibe, Great Bar Food, Friendly Service more

Good Times... Good Times 5/15/2008

This place is awesome! My roommate had been to Nikkis before and told me how chill it was so we decided to go a couple Saturday's ago. I had thee best time! No stuck up croud, friendly staff and dress code wasn't enforced (everyone still looked hot). The croud ranged from 20's to late 30's and so did the genre of music. I never knew Pitbull and Journey could be mixed together so well, lol Go DJ, Go DJ!!!! Gonna be at Nikkis 2night to watch the Lakers SMASH on Utah (Utah SUX!). Surprisingly I was able to make a reservation. Usually bars tell you first come first serve. What more could you ask for? Nikkis... I heart U! Pros: Great crowd, Polite and fun staff, great dance floor! Cons: If you meet a hot guy he might be from out of town :( more

Perfect bar near the beach! 1/25/2008

I have been to so many bars in the Los Angeles area but this one was and is by far the best. I was impressed. The atmosphere was perfect. Good looking guys and girls (professionals not college students). This is a perfect scene for the 24-40 year old crowd. Drinks were reasonably priced. Bartenders were ok but the bouncers were hilarious! Such a wonderful staff and the DJ was incredible. He played everything and knew what he was doing. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar the entire night and had a blast. Plus...it didn't hurt that we were in beautiful Venice sitting at one of the classiest bars near the beach. Will definitly be going back and I recommend this venue to anyone in the LA area. Pros: atmosphere, people, music, drinks Cons: bartenders were a bit ignorant more

Amazing west side find 5/22/2007

I heard about this place when it was called...I think Pussycat Lounge...and was so excited. I live about 3 blocks away and was excited about a bar so close, and an alternative to The Otheroom. My expectations were tiny -- I couldn't believe a good bar would be so hidden -- and it is now my favorite chill bar in all of LA. Great place for happy hour; great place for late night dancing and drinks. I had a happy hour client meeting there once and it was perfect; I had a girls night out where we wanted to drink and dance and it was the best. Around 9 or 10 at night they take the dinner tables away (which is actually quite funny -- they don't warn you, they kinda just take your table as soon as your food is cleared when it hits "that time") and a dance floor is created. The bar could not be cuter with its exposed brick, flat screen TVs (great place to watch a game!), and chic decor. The people there are almost all gorgeous, which you wouldn't necessarily expect in Venice Beach. I mean seriously. Also more than notable: Thursdays from 8 -11, women get free champagne complete with a raspberry in the glass. Loooooove Nikki's! By the way, don't come too late, I've seen lines down the street a few times. Pros: Other than the best bar on the west side? Cons: Drinks are a little pricey -- they're comparable to Hollywood more

Editorial
  • Located just a few steps from the Venice Boardwalk, visitors and Venice locals alike flock to this friendly, beachy bar and restaurant that's more surfer-chic than dive--just check out the surf-inspired artwork (including the now-iconic "surfer girl" photo above the bar) on the walls and the skateboard rack by the front door. There's no outdoor seating, but the large wall of windows at the front are open to the sea breeze when the weather's good, so grab a table there for an almost-alfresco experience. Booths and tables fill the large space, while the long bar has plenty of stools for grabbing a drink and taking in a game on the flat-screen TVs. Food choices are a step above typical bar fare, with items like wings, sliders, grilled cheese, and tasty sweet potato and waffle fries. There's a selection of specialty cocktails, as well as strong mixed drinks and beers. Happy hour deals are generous, with half-off well drinks, house wine, beer and appetizers--popular options include the nachos, avocado wontons and seafood ceviche. On weekend nights, the space turns into what passes for a nightclub in Venice, with a DJ and dancing.
