Nielsen's Frozen Custard

I've heard locals rave about Nielsen's Frozen Custard. I finally went there recently with my wife. They had a few flavors of Custard available in cones and pints you could take home. I expected heaven in a cone due to the comments other locals shared with me. The custard was nothing special. It tasted similiar to ice cream, but tasted like there was sand or something in it. Maybe the ingredients weren't mixed right. Either way it was too sweet, too expensive, and I'll never go back. Pros: The people that worked there were very friendly. I LOVE Nielsen's. Their custard is exquisite (if pricey at $4-5 a 16-oz concrete), the place has a wonderful old-timey 50's diner atmosphere with black white and red decor, and they do a great job keeping the place spotlessly clean (including bathrooms). For newcomers, the menu can be a little confusing (I had no idea when i first came what custard even was, as opposed to ice cream). Rather than outline it here, my suggestion would be to go there and sit yourself down with a menu, where on the back you will find plentiful praise for their delectable product. If you still have questions, just ask the scoopers. They know what they're talking about. Pros: the custard! Cons: loud machine at times, and custard prices add up faster than you think. more

I first had Nielsen's frozen custard in Las Vegas and loved it! When I saw that there was an outlet in StGeorge I was excited, when I discovered that it was the same great quality of dessert I was extatic! I highly recommend this place. The only thing that would improve this place is an end to the road construction in front of it. Pros: The custard Cons: hard to get into parkinglot due to city road construction more
