Delicious Burgers Great Atmosphere 4/30/2011

Nick's in Lemont is a great place to stop for a burger and enjoy the atmosphere of Lemont, IL. The service is excellent and friendly. You can stop by after work for fun or bring the family for a Saturday burger. Nick's welcomes everyone. The burgers are huge and delicious, especially with grilled onions. The owners go out of their way to welcome regulars and newcomers. Stop by for a great time and great food. I am a longstanding fan of Nick's in Lemont. more

Incredible Burgers 10/26/2010

A friend and I were taking care of some business in Lemont and stopped by Nick's Tavern for lunch. The burgers don't get any better than the ones served here. Big, juicy and delicious! My friend asked for a bowl of chili and then asked for a second one!\r \r Great prices, great service, great food! more

Nick Would Be Rolling Over In His Grave 6/18/2010

The bartender was awful. Her back was to us most of the time while she was texting on her phone. She took our order finally, and we will already kinda out of the mood from waiting so long. After about 30 minutes, some over weight kid brought us our food while he was chewing on some food. We were getting grossed out because his mouth was full when he asked if we needed anything else. The food was rather dried out tasting and not very warm. The grilled onions were not cooked very much and the bun was not very fresh. Don't waste your money! Pros: They have a door to leave Cons: Bad Staff, Bad Food, Bad Time more

BEST BURGERS? NOT!!!!! 6/18/2010

My wife and I had Nick's back in April for the first time and we loved it. However, when we went back a few weeks ago on Saturday, our experience was not so pleasant. The dude behind the bar was sarcastic and kept making comments about the female bartender. The female bartender left from behind the bar and took over cooking without putting on a hairnet or pulling her hair back - that's got to be some kind of health code violation. The burger, when we got it, was dried out and appeared to have broken in half before it was put on the bun. Also overheard bartender complaining about amount of tips being left by patrons. Hey buddy - you only get tips for good food and service - take a hint! Publish EditPreview Pros: Used to be good Cons: Poor service, dried out burgers more

Dried Out Piece of Meat-What Happened? 6/1/2010

Had a hamburger a few weeks ago, was very good. Went again on Saturday and it was awful. The patty was very, very thin and dried out. No flavor or spices. The patty hung over the bun, so it will still big, but it was the worst hamburger I EVER ate. I guess it wasn't long for the new owners to cut corners on the quality. Used to be fresh and juicy. Now its so dry they can cut back on the napkins. Very disappointed Cons: Tasted Old, Very Thin Meat, Not Juicy, Dried Out Expensive more

Sox Opener Found Somethtng Special 4/6/2010

On our way home to Iowa after attending the Sox opener we found this little burger place that was just unbelievable. 1 pound burger and friendly people. We walked in and felt right at home. Lots of baseball talk and didn't want to leave. Pros: 20 minutes from Downtown more

Great Burger Slooow Service 3/28/2010

Went in Saturday to grab a burger. First time in over 10 years. The bartender took my order and after about 20 minutes the cook brought out my food. After that, you could hear the bartenders annoying fake laugh, but you could not get her attention. She kept talking to one guy and laughing, laughing, laughing. We never got offered a drink refill and it took foerver to get our check. Go and get really great hamburgers, but not when the laughing bartender is there. Must be the owners daughter! Sorry. Pros: Food was Wonderful Cons: Bartender talked too much, ignored customers more

Burger, Beer, and Blackhawks game - can't beat Nicks 3/22/2010

Best burger in Cook County. Recommend you order medium or medium rare. Friendly old time atmosphere. more

Forget The Trip 2/25/2010

I had to change from original review from Feb of 5 stars. I returned this month (June) and someone stole the NickBurger. The cheese was so melted down, most of it cooked off the burger. The burger was very dried out and overcooked. Was I at the same place? Pros: Used to be great hamburgers Cons: Changed something-not the same more

Huge Burger With Chips $5.00!! 1/21/2010

I had the day off for Martin Luther King day, so I decided to stop in with a buddy at Nicks for lunch.. Wow, the special for this one pound burger was only $5.00 and that included chips. My Burger was so juicy and flavorful. It came loaded and it looked so good, I didn't know whether to eat it or take a picture of it. I made the right decision and ate it. Going back next Monday, MacDonalds you can keep your Big Mac. Pros: Delicious, Fresh, Cooked to Perfection, Low Price more

Best hamburger in the world just got better!!!! 1/19/2010

I stopped down last Saturday around lunch. Not only was my hamburger delicious, but it now has fresh tomatoes, and nice crisp lettuce. The bun was soft and fresh, the burger was sooooooo good. New staff and owners are wonderful. If you don't try this place you are crazy. If you went in the past, you must recheck out this gem in Lemont Pros: Fresh, delicious food. more

BEST BURGERS...EVER!! 1/16/2010

The burgers are amazing, and you'll never leave there hungry. The staff helps to create the cozy feeling that makes Nicks such a special place. You've gotta check it out. Pros: Great Atmosphere more

Great Beef Sandwiches 1/15/2010

Checked out Nick's on an early Sunday afternoon. Had a beef with double green peppers on it and don't know when I've ever tasted one as good as this one was.\r \r Was going to order a second one until my wife stopped me! She ordered a burger she almost couldn't finish and said it was the best.\r \r I know where I'm going back to and I know what I'm going to order and I'm thinking of not taking my wife with so I can have two of the beef sandwiches.\r \r You're going to love the food here! more

5 Star Burgers and Beef 1/12/2010

The new owners of Nick's seem to have done everything right! This yesteryear tavern is great! \r \r The huge 1lb burgers are juicier and better than they've EVER been and the beef sandwiches are the best I've ever had! \r \r To make it even better - you'll be served with a smile because Karen is back! \r \r I drove in the snow with freezing rain just to get another burger from Nick's! You gotta have what you gotta have!\r \r It doesn't get any better than this! more

Worst Burgers Ever 11/17/2008

If you like a big, dried out piece of meat with no flavor, and very slow service with attitude go there. Pros: It does have character Cons: Food and Service awful more

Sloooooooooooooow 6/12/2008

Still make good hamburges, but they lost their good waitress and haven't replaced her. Our wait for our hamburgers was about 50 minutes. That won't do. Pros: Good Hamburgers and Killian Red on tap Cons: Slow slow slow slow more

The only think that irks me... 5/20/2008

Is the review on this site that ruined their perfect 5-star rating because the reviewer is too cheap or too stupid to figure out how to split a check between two people. more

Awesome Burgers! 11/9/2006

Like the other post... I too grew up in Lemont. Nick's has the best burgers around! Even though I am 1700 miles away from there now a days, I still will stop in for a burger if we are in the area. Took the kids there once, and my daughter wanted a ""double cheeseburger"", We laughed. She got a single, and only finished 1/2! more

Best One Pound Burger In Chicago 6/9/2005

Great Deal!! Ice cold beer on tap. One pound meat burger with no fluff, pickles, onions, catsup, mustard nothing else, cheese or no cheese! Don't ask for tomatoes and lettuce, no gots. Cooked perfect. Small place, great atmosphere, Cubs fan paradise, worth the drive. I live in Indiana!! more

Don't just take MY word for it 3/19/2005

Having grown up in Lemont, I'll be the first to admit that I might be just a tad bit biased. But it says something when former Illinois governor James Thompson would INSIST on going to Nick's Tavern for one of their ginormous burgers every time he was in the Chicago area. A small, family owned tavern, Nick's is an ideal place to go. The decor is a bit eclectic, but the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I highly recommend it, whether you're from Illinois or Italy. And don't take MY word for it... take Gov. Thompson's! more
