Simply the Best 4/29/2014

I think Dr. Cynthia Nichols and all her staff are pet whispers. I just read a review on this site with someone mentioning the fees of an emergency situation and want to counter with our emergency situation to illustrate that there are some things one can not put a price on: Our GSD, Shadow unfortunately had a disease called Degenerative Myelopathy, which is a heart breaker to watch with a slow demise. Dr. Nichols is the only DVM we found who knew anything about this disease and we'd entrusted Shadow to her compassionate care. Then, Shadow went into a cluster of seizures: 7 in a 24 hour window. The staff at PVAH went beyond the call of duty in this crisis; not once did they do anything but follow my wishes, in short, they gave me the facts, gave me the options, yet did not "tell me what to do." Ultimately, my husband and I knew it was time to send Shadow to heaven. Overwhelmed, we braved the tearful moment and took Shadow in for the last time. It seemed the entire clinic stopped all activity when I told the receptionist we'd come to put Shadow to sleep. Never have I witnessed such compassion and professionalism. This is a clinic who knows what it means to love a dog. The way they all handled the situation is something that puts a good name on humanity, and for this, there is no price. more

I needed compassion. I got a giant bill. 2/21/2010

I had visited Parkview and Dr. Cynthia Nichols for shots for my dog and an occasional checkup. The office was always very busy, but the vet seemed interested and answered my questions. But, when my dog was hit by a car and I rushed him in, I ended up with a gigantic bill for all kinds of services I don't think he needed. The good news is that he just had a broken leg, and it did heal. I originally thought he was hurt much worse. However, all kinds of fees -- for emergency services, special drugs, operating room expenses -- were added in. I've been taking my animals to vets for years, and I never saw anything like this. more

They care about money, not your pet 9/19/2008

I've been to many vets in my life, but this one is the worst. They don't seem to care very much about the animals--they are more concerned with making money. Maybe that makes sense since the doctor told me it took her awhile to be able to afford the rent in this area. They do exams on your animal that you don't need (this happened to me twice), and they push extra treatments. I will never go back to this vet. Pros: None. Cons: Rip-off, terrible service. more

"Compassionate Care With A Modern Approach."

Owner Message
  • Our philosophy is "Compassionate Care With A Modern Approach." By combining advanced verterinary technology with empathy for all living creatures, we provide a unique and comprehensive veterinary health program for your beloved pet. Our multi-faceted philosophy incorporates high quality, preventative medicine and the human-animal bond.

The second component of our philosophy is the human-animal bond. The human-animal bond is a relatively new phenomenon that many of us have been unknowingly incorporating into our lives for decades. The basic principle of the human-animal bond is that our pets are thought of as family members, rather than amusing distractions or property. Because of this stronger connection with our furred and feathered family members, we believe an innate compassion for all creatures great and small is essential.
