When I first arrived at Ni Hoowa Supermarket, I noticed that the store lacked customers at a time when they should be crowded with them. I also noticed that it's a family run business and that the entire family lounge around there, which made my shopping experience a bit uneasy.
I kept walking around the store and asking myself, "This is it?" and "That's all they have?" The selection were TERRIBLE! They barely had any fruits or vegetables, and the ones that they did have were in boxes. Not only were the selection terrible but the prices were through the roof! Now, I don't expect an Asian grocery store in Buffalo to have prices comparable to California but then again, I don't expect them to be exponentially higher than the local grocery stores in the region either. To put it into perspective, I spent $25 on groceries that would have probably cost me a little over $10 in Southern California.
