I would never tour with Nexus Holidays again. We wasted a lot of time at various jade, tea, silk, pearl, oriental medicine, etc... ""factories"" where we'd spend 2-3 hours each DAY and be given a hard sell by very persuasive salespeople. Many in our tour group simply waited in the bus or off to the side for the whole ordeal to end. The time we spent at real cultural sights was very short (e.g. an hour only at the Shanghai museum).
Be prepared to pack on very short notice. They once told us to leave our suitcases outside our hotel room at 10 pm when we were only returning to the hotel around 8 pm or so. Some tourists were really scrambling to pack everything they'd brought and stuff they'd bought into the existing suitcases. Luggage also wasn't always brought to the hotel rooms quickly enough.
The tour guide dictates how much you leave for his daily tip. Our tour guide, aside from having to follow his company's rules, was generally friendly, helpful, and patient.
The hotel rooms are really nice. The meals were generally tasty and provided in huge amounts, but could've been tastier.
The bus and transportation were generally comfortable.
The arranged performances were second-rate at best. Don't get your hopes up.
I liked most of the local tour guides. They were all friendly, talkative, and approachable.
Most of the others in the tour group were from the US, Canada (Toronto), and Australia.
Pros: Safe, Cheap, Nice Hotels
Cons: Too Many Shopping Stops, Disorganized, Rushed
