Newport Pet Clinic

I have lived in Irvine for approx 10 yrs. When I first moved here I had 2 Labradors and checked the local veterinarian offices. My first visit was at a clinic in Tustin and I had the BEST experience with the doctor who looked at my pets (Dr. Arthur Bass). The next time I went to the clinic I heard Dr. Bass had moved to a different location and I was VERY disappointed. My dogs were 5 at the time, and I had seen well over 8 different doctors and NONE compared to Dr. Bass!! I stayed at the clinic and became friends with the manager who ended up leaving and opening her own clinic. When she told me the doctor she was partnering up with at the new clinic was Dr. Art Bass I was ELATED!! I have been a client of Newport Pet Clinic since they very first opened their doors!!! I carry their business cards with me to hand out to any and everyone I meet!! Every single person I have sent to Newport Pet Clinic have ALL contacted me and told me that I am RIGHT!! They are without a DOUBT the best veterinarian clinic in Orange County....if not in ALL of Southern California!! I know people from over 40 miles away who have their pets taken care of by Newport Pet Clinic! They are knowledgable, compassionate, friendly, honest and absolute animal LOVERS!! You couldn't ask for anything more than those qualities in a doctor for your beloved pet. I took my first kitten for her first vet visit here, and I was so disappointed! I took her in for a basic exam, and the doctor proceeded to perform additional procedures without even asking me if he could, let alone discussing price with me, and when it came time to ring me up, boy was I in for a surprise! That's not the worst part, though. When I brought up the extra charges to the lady up front, she proceeded to argue with me in a very rude and condescending way. She said how could I expect for all the extras to be free, everything has to cost something. Well, how the heck was I supposed to know they were "extras" if he did them without even asking me first? Did I mention this was my first vet visit, how was I supposed to know the drops he put in her eye, for example, were an "extra"? She told me that when I go to a restaurant, I can't expect to order all sorts of extras without being charged for them. Well, HELLO! At a restaurant, not only do you have a menu with all the prices listed, but you don't get extra food brought to you unless you are asked first, and you order it! I told the lady that I was very disappointed, and I would not be coming back. She told me that if cost was an issue, I should have told them before I came in, because how were they supposed to know price mattered to me. The issue here was not the price, as much as lack of communication with the vet, and total lack of manners from the lady up front. (I believe she is also one of the vets). She was sooooo rude and nasty to me, that I warn everyone who thinks about taking their pet here.... BEWARE!!! more
