New York Hardware Co

Went to New York Hardware to look for special door knobs. I was told (with attitude) that these door knobs had to be ordered and would take 30 days - to not call until after the 35th day. The next day, I went to Woodward Ace Hardware in Santa Ana. They had a better brand (Baldwin) at a lesser price and they had them in stock! So, I saved money, time and the service was amazing. New York Hardware should take a lesson. more

Every time I need door or cupboard hardware I always visit New York Hardware first! They have the best selection around for varying budgets. The service has always been super friendly and helpful no matter if I was looking to buy hardware for my whole kitchen or 1 cheap doorknob for my kids bathroom. For example, in 2007 I ordered 10 ring pulls for my kitchen cabinets. Nine of the rings came in, we took them home, put them on and would pick up the tenth ring when it was delivered. A few weeks later we found out that that particular design had been discontined. The manager said it was no problem and ordered me ten new rings same design, slightly larger. When the new rings came in she told me to take them home and try them out before returning the old rings. Satisfaction Guaranteed! Because I live quite a ways from the store she said to just return the old rings whenever I was back in the area. In fact every time I check out hardware to take home and try out I always have at least a week to return it. I love this store, its selections, and its service! I had an aweful experience more than once. I took a moment to tell them how I felt (which is out of the ordinary for me) and I was fired as a customer. No kidding. Apparently, if you don't spend $5K or more per purchase, their time is too precious. Oh yeah, they also have a 2-Day return policy. Have you ever heard of such a thing???? Pros: Nicely decorated shop. Good location. Cons: HORRIBLE Customer Service!!! 2-Day Return Policy (yes, it does exist - scary). more
