New Star Chinese Restaurant

New Star is a pretty standard Chinese restaurant, I suppose. We live outside the delivery area so we dine in. I can't say anything really stands out, dish-wise, but we've never had any problems with the food or service. Free parking is usually available and adequate...I can only think of one time where we had to end up parking in the neighborhood. more

I haven't been here in years, sctually since I was a teenager. I remember the food being so good. It was so good that I am going to visit this place for sure again! The big appetizer tray was so good and fun to share. more

I havent been to this particular place, I have been their other place on Dempster and Potter. So far they make the best Crab ragoon. No other place has beat them and I have gone to many places to compare more

My family and I have been patrons of the New Star Restaurant for about 30 years. We have never been disappointed. The service is very good, the food is served hot and fresh, and the prices are reasonable. Start with the WonTon soup and/or eggrolls, and then try one of the entrees. If you're with a group, order several different items from the menu, and share and sample each. The Sweet and Sour Chicken and Egg Foo Young are both excellent, as are many of the other dishes. The New Star has a small parking lot East of the restaurant on North Ave., and street parking is also available. Pros: Value, Freshness, Free Parking, Service Cons: none more

After reading the previous and very positive reviews (my boyfriend and me) decided to try this place out. We were both very disappointed, the ambiance was the typical American/Chinese diner type, loud, with lousy food. We ordered the Sesame Chicken and the Orange Peel Chicken - the only difference was that one had a couple of orange peels in it and the other was sprinkled with sesame seeds. It was the same chicken and sauce for both dinners :( - we basically ordered the same thing. \r If you're looking for something tasty and in a room you could enjoy it in - go somewhere else. However, if you're looking for something quick, cheap with no flavor, this is the place. \r I'll make a suggestion, for really good Chinese food and the ambiance to go with it, try Friendship Chinese Restaurant located on Milwaukee Avenue (approx. Milwaukee and Central Park). It's is a little bit out of the way, but it's definitely worth it. more

Many people told me for years not to eat here but I didnt' listen because I liked the food. My family had it delivered at least once a week for years. Well, few months ago a friend told me he found a rusty nail in his dinner. They just blamed it on the produce crate - apparently they don't wash their produce. Then today I found a dead six legged creature in my dinner. Now I will finally listen to the people who have told me they have been cited many times by the health dept. more

THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN ALL OF CHICAGO!! HANDS DOWN!! Make sure you try their egg rolls! I have never had a better egg roll in my whole life! more

My entire family loves New Star Restaurant. The food here is superb and the service is always excellent. Not once have I had a bad dish from this restaurant. The staff is friendly and courteous and I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant. We use it for most family celebrations. more
