I took 2 pairs of pants here to be hemmed and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. At first I thought $12 per pair was a little steep, but when I picked them up, both pairs were cleaned and pressed, so it was well worth the price. The hems looked flawless and they were exactly the right length, even though I had taken them in sloppily pinned up. I even took them in early assuming it would take a week or so to get them back, but he had them ready for me in 2 days. I'll never go anywhere else! more

Not recommended! 4/23/2010

Wife took dress in to get neck altered. Could not believe what he gave back. Stitching looks terrible. Sides are not even. Pierced the silk several places and is not repairable. Additional pin hole near neck line as well. Does anyone even look at the work before it goes out the door? Big lesson learned. Neiman Marcus dresses are not cheap. Cons: Ruined Silk Dress more

Terrific Tailor! 12/11/2009

I'd absolutely recommend this place to anyone. The proprietor is friendly and helpful, and he'll tell you if he doesn't think he can do what you want. I took a silk dress that was much too large, and it came back as though it was made for me! Pros: great work, great price more

Exceptionally Nice Man, Exceptionally Nice Work 11/20/2009

After being turned away from a Shadyside tailor 3 times (she was ""on break"" twice, another time she would not take my jacket because she already had too many alterations to do that week) I decided to try New Oakland Tailor. I am so happy I found this man! I took a very expensive Calvin Klein jacket to him to get taken in, and he did such an unbelievable job, I can't even tell where he made the alterations. It fits me perfectly now. I am so pleased! Pros: perfect detailing, good prices more

great service and great price 2/1/2009

I had two pairs of dress pants that needed alterations--one needed the waist taken in and the other one needed the hems taken up on the legs (and that pair was lined!). Both turned out great....and cost only 12 dollars per alteration. more

great service, great price, exactly what I wanted 12/5/2008

Just wanted to let you know I just had a great experience at the New Oakland Tailor... the man who owns the shop is very nice and did exactly what I wanted, for $12 per alteration (I had two pairs of pants hemmed and the seat let out in a pair) -- for these three services it was $36. Pros: reliable, great tailoring quality Cons: difficulty parking more
