As a young child, I was lucky enough to not need glasses. That changed as I got older and by the time I was 14 I was wearing glasses and contact lenses. For most of my life I’ve been wearing contacts. They provided great vision without actually having to wear glasses. Overtime, I favored them more and more because they did not get in the way; especially while working out at the gym.
At my annual eye exam, Dr. Nosike told me that I was over wearing my contact lenses. I needed to start wearing my glasses more. I was also told that I was a candidate for LASIK. That definitely interested me. My glasses have always made me feel restricted, that’s why I favored contact lenses.
After my LASIK evaluation, I found out that I also had dry eye from over wearing my contacts. Determined to get LASIK, I went 6 weeks without contact lenses, trying to reverse the dry eye. Thankfully, it worked.
In January 2008, I had the procedure. On my way home after the procedure, I could actually read the license plate of the car in front of me. Before the procedure I would never have been able to read it without my glasses or contacts. It was amazing to see the affects so quickly after the procedure.
It’s been over 3 years since I've had the procedure and I’m seeing 20/15! It has improved my life so much. There’s no fussing with lenses and solutions, I can actually read the alarm clock in the morning! Dr. Goldstein and the team at NEEC were great and I always recommend them to my friends and family for LASIK and Eye care in general.
