Let me startby saying that the owner is a very nice lady. Kind, soft spoken.
That said, let me share my personal experience:
I drop off two items to be altered. They need extensive work, but the owner ""F"" (the owner) provides an estimated price (+ or - 20-40 dollars) and takes them. THREE MONTHS later I call to see if they are ready, and am told that it is her busy time of year and she hasn't yet started them. Upset, I explain that I need them that by the end of that month, and am told that they wont be ready. She suggests that I just come get them. I am then faced with paying much more to have them altered elsewhere in a rush, or buying a new gift for a family member. (The items to be altered were my grandmothers coats. I had intended to give them to a family member as a meaningfull memento. The owner knew this and I was willing to pay for the work needed to be done.)
I feel that having three months is plenty of time to have this type of work done. Wedding dresses are done in less time. Moreoever, if you feel that the work is not worth your time or you dont want to do it, TELL ME UP FRONT.
Other thoughts: Service hours:I don't know how she stays in buisness. The shop is closed for long perods of time (3 or more weeks) in the summer and around the holidays. (Hello, I would THINK you would get a lot of buisness around the holidays.) It also closes at 6PM, leaving very little time for the people who have the money to be repeat constumers to get to the shop after work. The shop is also only open for 2 hours on the weekends.
Pros: Owner is a nice lady, quality work
Cons: SLOW SLOW SLOW, unprofessional
