Dr. Pai at this center is excellent in that he listens and seems to understand your problem. I would trust him implicitly to do surgery on my back. He seems to be very caring. However, his staff leaves a lot to be desired. I am currently unemployed, without income, and have a serious problem with my back that I must get fixed so that I can go back to work. I am a nurse. Dr. Pai had agreed to work with me. I made another appointment to see him as I am getting worse and am working on raising money for the surgery that I've been told I need and for the doctors bills. After I made the appointment a lady in the office named Cindy called and said I could not see him anymore because I had a balance of $300.00. I do understand this but had been told they would work with me. She then told me it had been turned over to a collection agency. I have not received any bill or call from them previously that said anything about a collection agency. I asked her again if they were not going to work with me and she told me that, ""you have to be really bad for us to turn you over to a collection agency so no we won't see you anymore until you pay the entire balance"". I do pay my bills and once I have the surgery and get back to work it will not be a problem. She also implied that Dr. Pai had told her to do this but I do not believe it because he is aware of my situation and has been very understanding. She was very ugly on the phone to me and made me feel like dirt. I am very depressed over my situation as it is and she only made me feel worse. I am loosing the ability to walk and am having many other problems now including some neuro problems that could be permanent if not treated. She said that maybe I could see somebody else and then hung up without telling me if my records could be transferred and how to go about it. I am very upset with this practice although I do still think that Dr. Pai is an excellent doctor.
