When my husband had been out of work to do student teaching, we turned to Neighborhood Health to become our health plan. During this time I had our second baby and there was no charge in the hospital or at the doctors visits. When we had to go back on Neighborhood Health this past year, it was a relief because I knew that they would pay for us to get over-the-counter drugs as long as we had a prescription from the doctor. We also didnt have the cost of copayments at doctors visit which were many with three kids.
I have had to call and speak with someone a few times and have always had good experiences. They treat you very nicely, I got through almost immediately and they were very thorough.
All of my family member's doctors were covered under the health plan and there was never a problem seeing anyone we needed to see.
The cost of the health plan is on a scale based on your income, sometimes free or minimal cost compared to blue cross or things like that.
If it hadnt been for Neighborhood Health and RIteCare of RI we could never have gotten through the tough times.
