One of my favorite restaurants 8/10/2008

I truely enjoy dining here. I had their preset tasting menu on my last visit and it was exquisite. The rabbit bratwurst was great and something that was new to me and the short ribs are out of this world as well. Their wine list is good I would prefer a few more selections but for its size, its outstanding. Also the wine knowledge of the staff is great. more

Wonderful dining experience, no Mickey Mouse-ing around 5/29/2008

Everything was really wonderful about this place...food, wine list, decor, and service. I had the Grilled 16oz Pork ""Porterhouse"" Chop and it was excellent and the wine went perfectly with the entree. There was an unexpected delay with the dessert, but the waiter was very attentive and he brought us free dessert drinks, which were great. (We didn't even ask him for it but he brought it anyway) Pros: Food & wine, service, decor Cons: None (yeah it's pricey but well worth it) more

Simply the finest restaurant on the planet! 5/17/2007

As a self-described ""foodie"", who pretends to be Andrew Sutton on weekends, I can tell you that this is the best food I have enjoyed anywhere! The atmosphere and service are unsurpassed, and did I mention the food?? Andrew is a genius! Although not as recognized as Jean-Georges or some of the Food Network clones, his creations are a magnificient, mind-blowing, mouth-watering experience! I have been to Napa Rose no less than 8 times in the past 3 years and I live 450 miles away from the restaurant. Even better than Masa's in S.F., or Joel Robuchon's duo at the MGM in Vegas. The only negative thing I can say about Napa Rose is that it is not the best place for kids. They do a great job with the ""kid food"" thing, but kids do not want to wait 1 1/5 - 2 hours to eat pizza. Pros: Everything!! Cons: Not the best place for kids. The cafeteria next door would be better suited for them. more

Best anniversary spot ever 1/22/2007

I took my husband here for our 10th anniversary in December. Relaxed at the bar prior to seating. Absolutely everything was amazing at Napa Rose, from the wine list to the food and our beyond perfection waiter-Saucy, thank you! Pork chops and scallops were to die for and our dessert was presented on plates with ""Happy Anniversary"" written in chocolate. This is the place to go whether you're a Disney fan or not. Romantic, beautiful and sensual. This is one place that is worth every penny!!! Pros: Ambience, parking, service, food more

Great Food, Great Customer Service 11/21/2006

We went there for my friend's birthday and at the end of it he said this is the best bday dinner he has ever had. This place beats it all. Great food, great service!!! just amazing..everything was so perfect. This is a night we will never forget... my friend kept joking with his wife that he is gonna divorce her and marry the chef for his amazing food. We were at the chef's counter. I dont think we would have enjoyed it as much if we were seated at the tables. Try the cheese platter, they have some awesome cheese and wine selections. Cons: Pricey more

Top cuisine, service, and extensive wine list--what's not to like? 11/17/2006

Napa Rose gets everything right--with few or no glitches. The service is attentive, warm and accommodating; the cuisine is varied and top-quality; and the wine list offers extensive choices for any wine lover, highlighting the best California's wineries have to offer. (Napa Rose servers have wine training and can expertly guide the wine novice to ideal food pairings and great wine values.) While the Napa Rose experience does not come cheap, it's well worth the price--a great dining destination for special occasions, and a perfect end to a day at Disneyland. Pros: Cuisine, service, wine list, ambiance Cons: Pricey, but worth it more

romantic haven in the midst of disneyland madness 6/28/2006

Superb service - never once had to wait for anything we desired. Menu had a large variety of dishes, sure to please. Food was absolutely divine. more

Great Food and Service 6/11/2006

Ate here on 5/26/05. We reserved a seat at the Chef's Counter in advance. We took the option of having chef Andrew Sutton fix a dinner just for us, and it was terific. Sat next to a local couple (it was the guy's birthday) and they told me i had made a good choice. We had the wine pairings, and our sommolier was Mike, who I think was also the manager(talk about getting good service), whose choices were just right for us. Also had fun watching the pastry chef make great looking deserts, and the ringside seat got us answers to our questions as we watched them prepare the foods for everyone. This was a perfect end to a week of convention activities (we were at the AACN Critical Care Convention). Pros: good food & wine list, attentive service Cons: high price more

Wonderful Dining Experience! 3/5/2006

Our servant has a great knowledge of wines; just tell him what you prefer and he will pick one that is exactly what you like! We had a $48 appetizer for two to share which include lobster, salmon, caviar, sturgeon, truffled Quail egg, and oyster. By the way, their complimentary bread is so good with four varities. My Prix Fixed $75 w/o wine was nicely presented but the taste could be better for a top quality restaurant like this; and my friend had a King Salmon which was so tender and soft on the inside and crispy / sweet on the outside. Had lemon creme brulee - it taste so good with the raspberry underneath it and I had chocolate almond tart (w/ my Prix Fixed) which was a little bit too sweet, but was a very nice dessert with mint chocolate ice cream on top. Overall, a very nice experience! Pros: Decor, Wine, Salmon Cons: Improve on Prix Fixed more

A truly memorable experience... 7/13/2005

I have been lucky enough to eat at a number of the greatest restaurants all over the world in my life, and I was blown away by this place! The ambiance was cozy yet so classy. The lighting set a wonderful mood. The service was close to perfect. The wine list was incredible, slightly overpriced but I mean come on it's an amuesment park, What do you expect? As for the food everything was mouthwatering. Each dish was colorful, interesting, and was like an orgasm in my mouth. One of my new favorites. I can't wait to go back : ) Pros: Great Wine, Beautiful Decor, Delicious food Cons: High Priced -But, worth it more

Great restaurant, but overpriced 5/18/2005

For those of you who are looking for a great OC restaurant... you have to understand that Orange County does not know great food; so there are few good FINE DINING restaurants. Of the fine dining restaurants in the area, this is one of the good ones. I would not listen to many of these reviews because they are written by people who have grown up in a ""good-food ridden"" Orange County. Napa Rose, along with Pinot Provence is the top restaurant in Orange County. Order the fois gras for appetizer, the duck or lamb for entree and u MUST get the chocolate ""pate"" for dessert. also has a very nice open kitchen. Pros: Great wines, Great Service, open kitchen Cons: overpriced more

Better than Ever 2/13/2004

Napa Rose is better than anything else in Anaheim if not OC. We had a large group and had a fantastic dinner last week. Chef Andrew has really worked wonders in the kitchen. more

Best of Wine Country in So Cal... 5/31/2003

As a frequent diner at Terra, French Laundry and La Toque in Napa Valley, I must admit the food at Napa Rose was definitely a pleasant surprise and certainly can hold its own against the best of NoCal. Even though the atmosphere is Disney-like and certainly lacks the rustic charms of some of its counterparts, one must remember that the reason we go to restaurants is for great food, wine and service. This place has all three areas covered. I would definitely recommend this place over all other restaurants I've been to in OC including Pinot Provence and the Ritz-Carlton. Try the lamb shank, prime pork rib, or the salmon. For dessert, I'd recommend the chocolate ""decadence"" or the pate. If you've got a larger party, I'd stay away from the price fix menu and instead order different entrees. You definitely get to taste more of everything that way. Pros: great food, attentive service Cons: theme park-like atmos, some overpriced wine more

highly overrated 5/13/2003

this feels like hotel dining; in other words, the food here is just too safe. Places like Pinot Provence, Aubergine and Gustaf Anders have better food, not to mention ambience. more

Exquisite!!! 4/23/2003

Both times were flawless and a wonderful experience. The food and presentation were exceptional. Portions are very small and the menu is always changing by season. Both servers were very knowledgable about wine and food selections. Must try the deserts. (I recommend the lemon creme brule and banana cheesecake) more

A Local Viewpoint 12/20/2002

I am a local in Anaheim, and expect nothing but the best when it comes to fine dining. I also expect the best from Disney. Try the Vintner's Table (with or without the wine) - you will not be disappointed. Pros: top quality food, excellent service, wine list Cons: a bit pricy more

Great, But Not Excellent 12/16/2002

I was expecting to be wowed. While the overall presentation and food were good, even great, it wasn't all it's cracked up to be. The experience started off on the wrong foot when the hostess was overly dismissive of our request for a booth, even though we had mentioned it at the time we made our reservations. Our server was very nice and accomodating, but I didn't feel like he had any real knowledge about wine. The Seven Sins appetizer selection was good, but beware that the portions really are geared to only two people. Splitting anything beyond that will take a lot of extra effort. The goat cheese in grape leaves were just that: goat cheese in grape leaves. For an entree, I recommend the rabbit--it was delightful. Pros: wine selection, great food Cons: tables too close, no patio more

Simply divine! 6/24/2002

A fabulous food extravaganza. We were guests at the hotel, but had a difficult time getting reservations because it was so booked. The hostess graciously found us a table however. The service was impecable. The food was amazing. I had the portebella crepes which I highly recomend. This restaurant is truly a treasure and it is hard to believe it is located in the heart of Disneyland!! more
