Worst

Namaskar is nice and clean but the food is average. Not better or worse then most other restaurants around cambridge and somerville.

The best Indian in Somerville 12/23/2006

There are other Indian restaurants in the area where you can get somewhat better food (Punjab in Arlington, for example), but this is hands-down the best option in Somerville and the Porter Square area. The service is friendly and solicitous (love the hot towel before the meal!), the food is very good, the prices are reasonable, and the convenient, Davis Square location is great. There's never a wait, either. More people seem to be drawn to Diva, a block away, which has a trendier, more stylish ambiance. But the food is simply not as good there, and the service is often downright rude. Namaskar is now our "go-to" place for Indian food. more

Decent Indian food 6/1/2006

Namaskar offers decent Indian food in nice clean atmosphere. The dishes found there can be found at any other Indian restaurant but not brilliant. It's nice and cozy and very good if your in a mood for some Indian chow. more

Excellent Food, No Attitude 3/16/2006

Namaskar has terrific food, the standbys you expect at an Indian restaurant as well as some dishes off the beaten path. I prefer it to Diva because it's quieter, less frenetic, and has equally good food. You get a complementary little green drink at the start - try it. The black lentils dish especially is excellent. Don't forget to leave your wet umbrella in the barrel by the door. more

Great food and atmosphere 3/16/2006

Namaskar is my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. I think the food is great and find the atmosphere to be very comfortable. Namaskar is one of two Indian restaurants in Davis Sq. - the other one is Diva. Namaskar serves superior food and it is usually not as crowded. Diva has a bit more upscale restaurant and attracts the trendy crowd. That's fine with me, because as a result I've never had to wait for a table at Namaskar. The staff is very polite and eager to help you. Namaskar also offers take out, however they do not have delivery service. more
