Best

Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

Worst

I totally agree with every reviews on here that talk about the terrible service and rude awful manager. I've eaten at nakama a few times. It's either hit or miss. My time there is...

Great sushi and atmosphere 9/24/2006

We love to go out to eat and this is one of our favorites. It is very upscale but casual. All ages are comfortable in the bar area and the dining is superb. It is great for an economical night out if you stay in the front for sushi or go all out for a full meal cooked in front of you. There can be quite a wait on the weekends so it is a good idea to go early and be prepared to wait for a table. The drinks at the bar are excellent and make the wait much more tolerable.\r If you love Japanese....don't miss this one!! Pros: Great atmosphere and food Cons: Not a place if you are in a hurry more

Best sushi 9/24/2006

Great food and service. We all went there after my daughter had gone there for sushi. Well, we've been back twice since, once for a great dinner and again to the sushi bar. Will be back again soon. more

Unbelievable!! 9/24/2006

This is by far the best restaurant in Pittsburgh!! I have been attending Nakama for about 2+ years now and just love it. With a hip atmosphere, amazing food and a awesome staff this place is great!! Nakama also has a friendly valet service; which on Carson St. is a must. After just a few stops at the bar and grill, I quickly became aquainted with the staff, who make me feel welcome every time I am in. I take all of my friends there for nights out and I frequently stop in for lunch too!! I cannot say enough great things about this place and it's staff. A++++++ Pros: The staff and the food Cons: NONE!!! more

Great Place 9/24/2006

Not only is the food great, but the atmosphere is great. Very trendy and lot's of food for the money! more

Best sushi in Pittsburgh! 9/24/2006

Words cannot express the fresh tasting sushi at Nakama. I highly recommend the spicy tuna rolls! You cannot go wrong here! Pros: Quality of Food Cons: Slightly salty more

best hibatchi grill in pittsburgh! 9/24/2006

Nakama is a great place to go for dinner or even lunch. They have a lunch menu which is a scaled down version of their dinner menu at a very reasonable price. The food is great and the drinks are awsome. \r They have a great hibatchi grill...and their chefs are terrific. They not only cook your food for you in front of you...but they also entertain you too! \r If your not up for all that, they have great appetizers that you can get just sitting in their bar area. \r Friendly workers and a nice enviroment! Pros: ambience, service Cons: parking more

Much better than Beni Hana!! Great for Lunch & also romantic dates!! 9/24/2006

Great for for lunch because you can get an excellent full course hibachi meal for around $10!\r \r Great for impressing that someone special for dinner in the romanticly lit decor.\r \r The food is outstanding and if you like Beni Hana then you will absolutely love this place, as the food is ten times better!\r \r Love the succulent shrimp appetizer with the seafood sauce! Love the fillet cooked with just the Nama spices and a little butter! Love the strip steak with the steak sauce! Love the onion brooth soup that you get as your first course! Love the salad with the ginger dressing that you get as your second course. Love the fried rice and hibachi vegetables that come with every meal! Always get an extra order of the fried rice as it is awesome to take home!\r \r This is by far the best restaurant in the burg! Five Stars!!!!\r \r P.S. Make sure you join their V.I.P club as you will never have to go there and pay full price again!! Pros: tons of food, lunch prices, V.I.P club Cons: can be expensive for dinner, crowded on Friday/Saturday night (must have reservations) more

Great Food and Sushi 9/24/2006

I eat at Nakama about twice a month and I love it. Sushi is excellent and the hibachi grill is the best in town. Ive tried them all so I know. Pros: FOOOOOD!!!! more

Best meal! 9/24/2006

Nakama is a great place to dine, with fun atmosphere, and the best sushi in Pittsburgh. I really am not the biggest sushi fan, but like it here. However, I will go and eat the best meal in Pittsburgh, Bob's Triple Combination any day of the week! Don't miss it! Pros: valet Cons: too crowded sometimes, but you will see why! more

Best Japanese & Sushi Restaurant 9/24/2006

I've been to Nakama Japanese Restaurant on half-dozen occasions. I've always found the service & quality of food to be excellent, as well as a great ambience. I recommend it for drinks, dinner or sushi. I will definitely be back ! Pros: Ambience, Service, Quality of Food Cons: Parking more

I would highly recomend this modern and confortable restaurant-bar.\r The sushi bar its really great. Good quality! The bar is also pretty nice to have a good cocktail and enjoy some music. And the restaurant, well, thats the best thing of the whole place for me. Veeeery good scallops, you should try them! more

Fresh Sushi, Innovative Drinks, Posh Atmosphere 9/24/2006

Every since it opened I have been happy with Nakamas amazing martinis(try their Pumpkin Spice one in fall! Yummy), fresh and tasty sushi(best Spicy Tuna Roll in the city) and hopping atmosphere. I think the quality is exceptional, here, eating raw fish is a joy-you know you are safe! thank you Nakama!\r \r Only recommendation-hostesses smile a bit! Your job can't be that bad! Pros: Quality, fresh food. Great drink list. Cons: Sour hostesses. more

great lunch value 9/24/2006

My co-workers and I are always looking for a fun lunch spot on the Southside but found some of the better restaurants a little expensive for lunch. Look no further than Nakama. The food is excellent and the portions relatively generous for a Japanese restaurant. You can have lunch for less than $10.00 including an appetizer and there is lots to chose from besides sushi. You have a choice of sitting at the ""table"" and watching your food be prepared or at a private table in the bar/sushi area. It was so much fun dining with my co-workers that I brought my teenage children to lunch the next week and they also enjoyed it. Pros: great value, excellent food Cons: parking more

Nakama Japanese Steakhouse - 9/24/2006

Food was fabulous! A group of friends went out to dinner and we were not only entertained by the chef but we totally enjoyed our meal, it was delicious! I am definitely heading back again for dinner and the atmosphere. Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: none, just make sure you are on time in order for your party to be seated. more

Great food and fun! 9/24/2006

The atmosphere is exciting and there is always a chance to meet new people. The food is delicious and the menu is very extensive. The service we have had has been very good and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again. more

Fantastic Experience 9/24/2006

I love this restaurant!! Nakama has the best food in the entire city, hands down, and it's such a fun place to go, whether you're with a small or large group of friends. The chef's are always friendly and really add to the whole experience. I highly recommend Nakama to everyone that asks me about places to eat in Pittsburgh, it's amazing!!! Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Service more

Always Fresh, Excellent Atmosphere, Always Friendly 9/24/2006

I have personally been going to this restuarant, since before it actually opened, as I installed the phone equipment for them. From taste testing food then till this day, I haven't gone anywhere but NAKAMA for sushi!! Even just to stop in for a drink during happy hour, it has always been a great experience. Usually at the sushi bar, Key, is the greatest. He always comes up with some new combination to try, one of the Nicest guys around. In addition they have a wide range of beverages, as I like to try differtent types of wine and beer. Guiness, hoegarden, wine or just the normals... something will always go with the excellent food, no matter what your taste is. Take a date, I have, and they have all been great, well at least the food was. Hope you try it and your experience is as good as mine. Keep up the good work. Cons: try to make a reservation if its a weekend but the wait for the sushi bar isnt that bad more

Great food and great atmosphere! 9/24/2006

I have been to Nakama a few times since it opened, and plan to frequent there a lot more now that I moved to the South Side! The food is great (love the filet and chicken combo)! The atmosphere is fun and our cook was very entertaining. I would highly recommend this restaurant! Pros: great food!!! Cons: parking, hard to get reservations on the weekend more

good times at nakama 9/24/2006

I was introduced to nakama by a group of nurses that I used to work with, having never tried sushi before, i was pleasantly surprised by the variety of types of sushi offered. I have eaten both at the sushi bar and at the hibachi tables and have been pleased with both service and quality of food. I never leave Nakama without a smile on my face and a great dining experience.\r The bartenders are great also, I always can trust them to make me a martini that is sure to please..... Pros: good bartenders, variety of app's, and sushi choices more

Always a great time 9/24/2006

I would just like to say how much i enjoy going to Nakama, it quickly became one of my favorite places to go. I just recently went for my birthday and had a great time. My group consisted of six people, and we made our reservations over the internet through Nakama's website so we didnt have to wait very long to be seated. However while we did wait we enjoyed a few drinks at the bar, and some hanalei and spider rolls which are my favorites. Our chef was great, he was very interactive and enteraining. He got the whole table involved in his cooking and performance. I would highly recommend Nakama for anyone who has a special event to celebrate or even just would like to go out to dinner for the evening. Pros: seating accomodations, sushi bar, easy to make reservations more
