I have been to Aveda and other upscale salons. Costs kept me away from routine maintenance and the enviornment felt stuffy with stylists who were uninterested in what I wanted. I remember that my stylist just kept getting worse the longer that I was her client. But, it was so hard to get a trendy cut that I found myself eventually going back and paying the price. Not to say that I didn't have those moments where I would turn around and ""cry after the cut."" Since going to this salon, every time I return, I leave with a smile, am never disappointed and have gotten the same stylist talent as the upscale salons! It is a place that is friendly and upbeat. Plus, I have gotten so many compliments on my hair which makes me want to give credit where it is due. My Friends Place is now my answer to feeling up to date and I wouldn't have it any other way. This is a beautiful family salon, located in downtown Elmhurst. We strive to be courteous and helpful. Our stylists and staff take the time to listen to exactly what you want. The upfront pricing is great, NO surprises. Our stylists are constantly involved in continuing education classes, to bring you the best and latest styles. It is a fun place to work. Today I decided it was a day for a change. I have been a blond my whole life. I was not only afraid of drastically changing my hair style/color, but I was also afraid of the quality of service I would receive. I went to one hair salon a year ago where the styalist cut my scalp while she was cutting my hair. The scissors were unsanitary, and it caused an infection that not only caused parts of my hair to fall out, but cost hundreds of dollars to get rid of. When I finally got the courage to get my hair done again, I went to a salon that I went to as a kid. The styalist was so rude and she did a poor job. I went in for highlights and ended up with checkboard bleach blond hair. Needless to say I spend 3 hours online this morning looking for a good salon. I called all of the ones with good ratings, and they were all EXTREMELY expensive. I walked into My Friends Place Salon prepared for the worst, but I walked away with something far different. My stylist Samantha was great. She helped me choose a fantastic color. When the book did not have exactly the color I was looking for she blended two different colors to create the perfect shade for me. It was nice to see a styist be as excited as I was about the change that I was going through. She was very conscientous about checking to make sure that everything was perfect. The color is phenomenal. Then she gave me a fantastic haircut that finally gave my hair the body that God intended but never got around to. This is the first time that I have ever left a salon feeling absolutely beautiful. I would definently recommend this salon to anyone. The people are nice. The prices are great (just $115 for a color, highlight, cut, and style). Try and get Samantha if you can, but the other stylists were great too. I can't wait for everyone to see my new look.
