Based on the promise of ""Peace of Mind"", I purchased the Current Safe Electrical Hazard Detection (EHD). It was very expensive at $1349 for 12 hours of analysis but figured it's cheaper than a home fire. At the completion of the audit I received a report showing issues.....many of which a monkey could have identified (clean vent fan, panel not labeled, missing screws on panel, GFCI outlets in basement, expired smoke alarms, etc). However, at the end of the day, there were several MAJOR issues missed by the specialized tools and only identified because I asked the electrician to dig in further to my concern areas. This DID NOT give me the ""Peace of Mind"" promised since these were not likely the only major issues missed. I would have rather the electrician spend less time identifying expired smoke alarms and more time on concern areas. For $500 the EHD would be worth it....but for $1349, you are better off paying for T&M on concern areas and troubleshooting.
