The Museum of the Gulf Coast has many interesting exhibits, especially for those who are interested in the arts, sports, or music. The bottom floor of the museum has a huge mural of the Gulf Coast and many displays of the physical aspects of this area. There are fascinating photos of hurricane damage in Port Arthur in the past and of many other subjects. There is also a huge lighthouse lens on display.
The top floor has exhibits on notable people from the Port Arthur area. Janis Joplin's painted-up Porsche is there as well as personal belongings from many sports figures, musicians, and other well-known citizens. There's a Robert Rauschenburg gallery with many of his collages and paintings, and you can hear songs from many of the musicians.
I think you will be surprised at the treasures in this museum if you visit. It's open 9-5 Monday through Saturday and 1-5 on Sunday.
