Bands - WARNING 11/29/2009

If you are a Metal Band booked to play at the CUP, the place is a ripoff. A fight started after 4 bands played with 3 left to play and the CUP cancelled the show and did not pay ANYBODY. The place is a ripoff. If you take a booking there be ready to play for nothing. We're not going back...ever. more

Like this Place!!! 1/30/2009

I have spent the last 6 years hanging out at The Cup. Great place for Saturday and Sunday chat sessions with friends, reading a book or newspaper or on Saturday nights and even during the week they usually have something going on. if your stranded on this desert island we call Staten Island then at least you would want a place the the Muddy Cup, other wise the place is void, everyones moving to brooklyn soon. more

This place has a nice decor in the front room, but is filled with Staten island sociopath hippie/emo poser kids who attempt to behave as though they are from the East Village. The coffee is ok, sometimes watery. Service is congenial. Back room is musty smelling with old couches and a broken projector screen. Commendable effort, I must say though, to create a bohemian cafe in Staten Island. more

Great place for a relaxed night 8/16/2005

The Muddy Cup is a wondeful coffee house on staten island. There are always performers there. They have open mic karaoke nights where you can sing the night away. The crowd there is very varied. Age can range from about 15 to 65. The Muddy Cup has a very relaxed environment. You don’t have to worry about dressing up, everyone goes there casual just to have a good time. more

Finally, a coffee shop on Staten Island worthy of the east village. Good coffee, cheaper-than-Starbucks prices, shabby vintage furniture chic, local artists' work for sale on the walls, and a great connecting performance room with a jam packed schedule with everything from hometown-made film screenings to Marshall Crenshaw. A computer terminal with internet access. A tv corner for group watching of your favorite shows. Also a lively flirt singles scene of all ages, but especially 20s & 30s. Take a tip from me, a coffee addict usually, but take a break from coffee, and try some of their flavored hot chocolates...especially in the winter. We need more of these kind of coffee shops in SI - about 50 more. more

Kick back and relax 4/29/2005

Mainly a hangout for artists & college student. It has a bohemian/victorian look to it and I mean that in a good way. If you like poetry, singing or dancing the back room of the Muddy Cup doubles as a performance area for musicians, actors and other artists. It's a great place to hang out, communicate with other artists or to just relax. more
