We drive from Sarasota to eat here! 5/30/2011

Trust the good reviews - not fathom7411. We pass up a lot of Mexican restaurants driving from Sarasota to Bradenton to get to Mr. Tequila's. We are going tonight in fact with another couple who crave Mr. Tequilas as well. I have been going to Mexico for 30+ years and know Mexican food as well as Tex-Mex. I would say that this place is somewhere in between. We love the California Burrito with Chicken. The salsa is one of the best around. Everything looks yummy but honestly I can't get past the Cal Burrito so I can't comment on too many other items but everything else we have had has been delicious! My girlfriend and I usually split the Cal Burrito. It's huge - stuffed with fajita style chicken, onions and peppers - perfectly seasoned and then the whole thing is smothered in a cheesy sour cream white sauce and a green chill sauce as well. I suppose if you were critical, you could pick apart a few things here and there but all in all we really enjoy the whole experience. It's a great, casual place to relax. Start with a margarita... it's easy to fill up on the great chips and salsa but don't - you'll want to save room for some of the best Mexican food around! more

Best Mexican restaurnat in the area! 10/17/2009

We go to this restaurant at least once a week!. It is so good and original we can't wait for the next visit. The chips and salsa are wonderful. Add a bit of the salsa picante (hot salsa) to it and you've got the best salsa around! All the employees know us now and remember our order. When we walk in the door we are happily greeted. ""Fathom"" doesn't know what he/she is talking about and obviously doesn't appreciate real Mexican food! The Steak a la Mexicana is big chunks of Delmonico Steak cooked to perfection with the right amount of spices, jalepenos, onions and tomatoes. To die for!!!!!! YUM! Pros: Steak a la Mexicana more

This place is worthless 8/23/2009

The previous reviews have to be either employees or people that just don't know any better. If your looking for good authentic Mexican food then keep driving. The salsa tasted store bought. Guacamole was bland. Encholadas were filled with excessive amounts of salt, tortas were filled with mayo but no steak, and tacos tasted like cheap meat. In no way was this place authentic. I should have kept driving. Pros: Air conditioning Cons: everything else more

Best Mexican Resaurant in Florida 1/5/2009

I have been going to Me. Tequila's for over two years. Having live in San Diego for most of my life, I KNOW Mexican food! I especially like the Chili Relleno and the carnitas flautas and lunch pork grill, but the lunch pork grill is available at night too. Fajitas.......seafood are scrumptuous. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. The green salsa is great. The whole wait staff is wonderful, going out of their way to make me comfortable. And my food comes out very fast. They remember what I eat and drink too. The greet me when I come in just like a good friend, and since I'm new to the area and don't know many people, that is important. I have taken numerous people there and all of them have loved the food. The servers deserve good tips. It can be difficult to deal with the customers, other servers, managers and cooks, all together. Pros: No pro's, my favortie restaurant Cons: Wish I could have some of their artwork on the walls. more

Best Mexican restaurant in Sarasota/Bradenton area 12/12/2006

Mr. Tequila is the best Mexican restaurant in the Sarasota/Bradenton, FL area. The Mexican food is authentic, great tasting, and cheap! This is the best overall restauarant in the metro area!! Convenient to DeSoto Square Mall and Cortez Rd. Very nice Mexican music, too. I've been to Mr. Tequila many times over the past 3 years or so. This is a great Mexican restaurant for real Mexicans, not just gringos. There is also a Mr. Tequila location in Palmetto. I hope there will be a location in Sarasota someday. Mr. Tequila clearly beats the competition! Very extensive menu, too. Most of the servers speak good English (but I like to improve my Spanish by speaking to the servers). Very clean place!! Clean restrooms. Big portions, too! The El Combo is the best! Pros: very authentic, very good and cheap Mex. food, very clean, good Mex. music, close to mall Cons: service can be slow and not real good at times; some servers have limited English more
