Disappointed 5/20/2011

I took my 10 year old son there tonight. I was expecting a positive first experience for him based on the other reviews. Almost everything about the experience was disappointing. The dumplings were soggy. The rice was mushy. The crowd was so loud. (The guy behind was using profanity every other word. He was impossible to ignore.) I was expecting it to have a little more class. We actually ended up getting most of our order to go because of that guy. We are sushi lovers. I was really hoping we'd found a new spot. more

Mr. Sushi is the best 12/13/2010

I have been taking my family to Mr. Sushi since they opened. Tan and crew are the best. They make us feel like old friends. The sushi is fresh and has the best flavor around. We just love the daikon roll, rainbow roll, spicy crab salad, squid salad, ... and I could keep going. This is the best and friendliest restaurant in the KC area... For special events, such as birthdays, we make reservations at the Japanese steakhouse on the other side of the step. Both are fabulous. more

Delicious sushi at a great price! 2/14/2010

I am so glad that my friends turned me onto this place. The staff are always really friendly and helpful, the restaurant is very clean, and the sushi is to die for! The raw sushi is always fresh tasting, and the cooked sushi is very flavorful as well. The prices can't be beat. They have great appetizers, too. If sushi isn't your thing, they've also got a connected Japanese Steakhouse with hibachi grills. If you've never been here, give it a chance. Who knew that Lee's Summit had a better sushi restaurant than anything to be found in Kansas City? Pros: Delicious food, fast service more

Californian's Have it wrong 3/20/2009

Bad review from anyone in California should be self-explanatory. I have spent a lot of time in many areas of Japan and Mr. Sushi is top notch in comparison. Pros: Great Sushi, Great Service, Clean, and Family Friendly Cons: Can't Find any more

Best I've found in Kansas City....so far.... 1/23/2009

I dont have the background of being a Sushi expert, but had a very favorite place, Mijuri, in Springfield, Missouri, where I moved from. I have tried a couple of places around the Metro including Leawood, Olathe, and Shawnee Mission and have yet to find anyplace that has a better flavor - fresh, not fishy - or price point - a little higher than cheap, but no worse than the cost of pizza for a couple.\r \r I am still looking for that WOW place in Kansas City but until then - if I am needing a sushi fix, the friendly staff and good food will do me well at Mr. Sushi. Pros: Fish is fresh Cons: The ambience could be better - more like a sports bar than a sushi bar more

Decent Sushi in Lee's Summit 10/29/2008

Decent sushi! We moved here from So-Cal 2 years ago and this is one of our favorite sushi places to eat. A must try item is the Spicy Crab Salad...awesome in every sense!! Only thing that didn't make it a 5 star for us is the rolls are on the small side versus the price. We've been other places that are just as good for less money though. My family and I love to eat at Mr. Sushi! Even our daughters love the sushi, especially the Lee's Summit roll! Tan and his staff make the girls feel welcome and give them ""kid"" chopsticks to use. The atmosphere is great and we really enjoy the wonderful food and friendly service!! Pros: Lee's Summit roll, friendly service Cons: What's not to like? more

I am from Los Angeles as well, so whoever wrote the first review got it TOTALLY wrong! We had the Alaska, Tuna and Lee's Summt rolls, the rice was overcooked and mushy and the seafood was far from fresh. I should have been wary ordering seafood from such a landlocked location of the country anyway. \r \r I do not recommend going there at all, and we based or ""adventure"" on the previous citysearch reviews. I thought it was my duty to post a more accurate review. With that said, stay away! Cons: Overcooked rice and not fresh seafood more

If you want original and inventive sushi, look no further... 2/14/2008

Let me begin by saying that my buddies Tan and Bui are fantastic at what they do. Anytime one of my friends wants to go out to eat and they haven't yet experienced the gastronomical nirvana that is Mr. Sushi, that is the first place we go. (secret advice: ask for snake water...) Great food and service. I have not had the opportunity to try the new teppanyaki section that they opened but if it's anywhere near their sushi bar in quality, I'm sure I'll be equally impressed. This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Lee's Summit (or anywhere else, for that matter). Even my wife loves the place and she is Mexican...that's a huge statement in itself. To all my friends at Mr. Sushi, keep up the great work and I'll be back again soon to do some shots with you guys! Respect! Pros: No need for specifics...everything is first rate. Cons: Sometimes they don't have snake water... more

Great Food Great People Exceptional Value 5/30/2007

I came to Mr Sushi with a group and it was very enjoyable. The meat was fresh and cooked to order. Everything was good and prompt service. I would recommend for anyone. Pros: Good Food, Good Quality Cons: Small Seating Area more
